The Darkness Deepens

Part 17

The crowd's chanting reached a fever pitch as Leyley's hands trembled, her top bunched around her neck. Andy's eyes gleamed with satisfaction, his smile growing wider as he surveyed the scene. The room was electric with tension, the air thick with anticipation. Suddenly, a voice pierced the din, shouting out above the crowd. "Cut yourself!" The voice was followed by a burst of laughter, and Leyley's eyes widened in horror as a small object flew through the air, landing at her feet with a metallic clink. She stared down to see a pocket knife, its blade glinting in the spotlight. The crowd's chanting changed, their voices rising to a frenzied crescendo as they shouted, "Cut yourself! Cut yourself!" Leyley's mind reeled in terror, her heart racing with fear. She looked up to see Andy's face, his eyes glinting with sadistic pleasure. His smile was twisted, his lips curled up in a cruel sneer. "Do it, Leyley," he taunted, his voice dripping with malice. "Show us what you're made of." The crowd's voices grew louder, more urgent, as they pressed Leyley for a response. She felt a cold sweat break out on her forehead, her hands shaking as she reached for the knife. The metal felt heavy in her hand, the blade sharp and menacing. Leyley's eyes darted around the room, searching for some kind of escape, some kind of rescue. But there was none. The crowd was a sea of faces, all twisted with excitement and cruelty. Andy's eyes were fixed on hers, his gaze burning with an unholy intensity. She raised the knife, its blade trembling in her hand. The crowd's chanting grew louder, more frenzied, as she hesitated, her mind racing with the implications of what she was about to do. Leyley's heart was heavy with despair, her body trembling with fear. And then, in a moment of clarity, she knew she had to make a choice. She could either give in to the crowd's demands, or she could find a way to resist. The knife felt heavy in her hand, the blade sharp and menacing. Leyley's eyes locked onto Andy's, a spark of defiance igniting within her. She would not give in. She would not be broken.
