Chapter 2: An Unlikely Seatmate

Part 2

The next lesson was math, and Kenzy was determined to focus on the teacher's words, not on the handsome face that had caught her attention earlier. As she walked into the classroom, she scanned the room for an empty seat. Her eyes landed on a spot near the window, and she made her way over, trying to avoid drawing attention to herself. Just as she was about to sit down, a chair scraped against the floor, and Levi slid into the seat beside her. "Mind if I join you?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief. Kenzy shook her head, trying to hide her surprise. "Not at all," she replied, trying to sound nonchalant. As the teacher began to write on the board, Levi leaned in close, his voice barely above a whisper. "So, Kenzy, how's it going? Adjusting to our crazy school okay?" Kenzy felt a flush rise to her cheeks as she turned to face him. "It's going great, thanks," she replied, trying to keep her eyes on the teacher. Levi chuckled and whispered, "I'm sure it is." The rest of the class was a blur for Kenzy. She tried to focus on the lesson, but Levi's presence was hard to ignore. He seemed to be enjoying himself, whispering silly jokes and making her giggle. As the lesson progressed, Kenzy found herself stealing glances at Levi, who was chatting with her as if they'd known each other for years. She couldn't help but feel drawn to him, despite his reputation as a bad boy. Their teacher, Mr. Thompson, wrote a complex equation on the board, and Levi leaned in to help Kenzy understand it. Their heads bent together, their shoulders almost touching, as they worked through the problem. Kenzy felt a spark of electricity as their skin brushed against each other. She quickly pulled away, trying to focus on the lesson, but Levi just smiled and continued to explain the math. As the class came to a close, Levi stood up, stretching his long frame. "Thanks for helping me out, Kenzy," he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I think we're going to get along just fine." Kenzy smiled, feeling a sense of excitement. She had a feeling that Levi was going to be a lot of trouble, but she couldn't help but be drawn to him. As they filed out of the classroom, Levi fell into step beside her. "Hey, want to grab lunch together?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "I can show you around the school." Kenzy hesitated, unsure if she was ready to get involved with someone like Levi. But as she looked into his eyes, she felt a sense of excitement and trepidation. "Okay," she said finally, "but just for lunch." Levi grinned, and Kenzy's heart skipped a beat. "Deal," he said, and together they walked out of the classroom, into a new adventure.
