Confronting the Dark Reflection

Part 21

The doppelganger's eyes seemed to gleam with a sinister light as it raised a hand, and the air around us began to distort and ripple. The alleyway seemed to fade away, replaced by a familiar scene that made my heart skip a beat. I was standing in my own room, but it was different, twisted. The furniture was the same, but the atmosphere was heavy with an eerie presence. In the center of the room, I saw myself hanging from the ceiling, my body limp and lifeless. My eyes were closed, and my skin was pale and clammy. I felt a scream building in my throat as I stumbled backward, my mind reeling in horror. Bakugo's grip on my hand tightened, his arm wrapping around me like a shield. The doppelganger's voice was a cold whisper in my ear. "This is what could happen to you," it said, its words dripping with malice. "This is what you're hiding from." I couldn't tear my eyes away from the gruesome scene before me. The sight of my own lifeless body was a punch to the gut, leaving me breathless and terrified. Bakugo's eyes followed mine, and I saw his gaze lock onto the twisted reflection of myself hanging from the ceiling. For a moment, Bakugo's face was frozen, his expression a mix of shock and horror. Then, his eyes snapped back to the doppelganger, his jaw clenched in a fierce determination. "You shut up," he growled, his voice low and menacing. The doppelganger's smile grew wider, its eyes glinting with amusement. "You can't protect her from herself," it said, its voice dripping with contempt. "You can't save her from the darkness that's inside." I felt a wave of fear wash over me, threatening to engulf me. Bakugo's arm tightened around me, holding me close as if he could shield me from the horror that loomed before us. I knew I had to face my fears, but the sight of my own lifeless body was a harsh reminder of what could happen if I let my darkness consume me. The doppelganger's eyes seemed to burn with an inner fire, its presence a constant reminder of the terror that I faced. I knew I had to find a way to overcome my fears, to confront the darkness within me. But for now, I was trapped in a living nightmare, with the doppelganger's twisted reflection haunting me at every turn.
