The Heir of Ignotus
Part 12
Harry's mind was reeling as he left Gringotts, the weight of his newfound heritage settling heavily on his shoulders. He had so many questions, but for now, he pushed them aside and focused on the more mundane task of finishing his shopping for his first year at Hogwarts. With his inheritance test complete, he felt a sense of closure and excitement about the new school year. He made his way to Diagon Alley, his eyes scanning the crowded streets as he searched for the shops he needed to visit. First on his list was Flourish and Blotts, the famous bookstore. He pushed open the door and was immediately overwhelmed by the sheer number of books on display. The shop was a treasure trove of magical tomes, with shelves upon shelves of books on every subject imaginable. Harry wandered the aisles, running his fingers over the spines of the books, taking in the titles and authors. He eventually found the textbooks he needed for his first year, including "The Standard Book of Spells" by Miranda Goshawk and "A History of Magic" by Bathilda Bagshot. He purchased them and moved on to the next shop on his list. Next, he visited Ollivanders, the renowned wand shop. The sign above the door read "Makers of Fine Wands since 382 BC," and Harry felt a thrill of excitement as he pushed open the door. Inside, the shop was dimly lit, with rows of shelves displaying hundreds of wands. Harry was greeted by an old man with a kind face, who introduced himself as Mr. Ollivander. "Welcome, young Potter," Mr. Ollivander said, his eyes twinkling. "I've been expecting you. I believe we have just the thing for you." Harry watched as Mr. Ollivander measured his wand choosing procedure, a long wooden stick that looked like a ruler. He took a few moments to examine Harry's hand, his eyes scanning the lines and shape of his palm. "Ah, an interesting wand chooses the wizard, you know," Mr. Ollivander said, as he handed Harry a few wands to try. Harry tried a few, but none of them seemed to feel quite right. That was until he picked up a wand made of holly wood, with a phoenix feather core. "This one feels...different," Harry said, feeling a surge of excitement. Mr. Ollivander smiled. "Ah, I think you may be right, young Potter. That wand has a special history, you see. The holly wood is known for its strength and resilience, and the phoenix feather core is one of the rarest and most powerful cores we have." Harry felt a sense of pride and ownership as he purchased the wand. He couldn't wait to try it out. With his shopping complete, Harry made his way to the Leaky Cauldron, a small inn that served as a gateway to the wizarding world. He had booked a room there for the night, and he was looking forward to a good night's sleep before his journey to Hogwarts. As he entered the inn, he was greeted by the warm smile of the barmaid, Rosmerta. "Welcome, Harry Potter," she said, winking at him. "I've got a room ready for you. You're going to be a student at Hogwarts, I hear?" Harry nodded, feeling a sense of excitement and nervousness. "Well, you've come to the right place," Rosmerta said, handing him a key. "The Leaky Cauldron has been a favorite haunt of wizards and witches for centuries. You'll be safe and comfortable here." Harry took the key and made his way to his room, feeling a sense of relief and anticipation. He was one step closer to starting his journey at Hogwarts, and he couldn't wait to see what the future held.
