Healing from the Hurt

Part 191

As I reassured my friends, I couldn't help but grimace in pain. My stomach still ached from Bakugo's punch, and I could feel a bruise forming on my cheekbone. But I knew I had a unique advantage - my healing factor. It was a quirk I had developed over the years, one that allowed me to recover from injuries at an incredible rate. "Guys, I'm fine. It's ok," I said, trying to sound more convincing than I felt. My friends looked at me with concern, seeing the pain etched on my face. Mina's eyes were wide with worry, while Kaminari's expression was a mix of concern and guilt. Bakugo, on the other hand, looked like he was about to vomit himself, his face pale and his eyes downcast. I took a deep breath and tried to stand up straight, but it was hard to ignore the agony coursing through my body. "I have a healing thing, remember? I'll be fine in a couple of minutes," I said, trying to reassure them. But before I could continue, I felt a wave of nausea wash over me. "But I do think I need to puke, though. That was a hard punch," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Kaminari's face turned greenish at my words, and he quickly grabbed my arm, leading me to a nearby trash can. "Here, Vesper, go ahead," he said, holding my hair back as I bent over to vomit. Mina followed close behind, concern etched on her face. As I vomited, Bakugo's face appeared in front of me, his eyes filled with regret. "Vesper, I'm so sorry," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't mean to hurt you that badly." I looked up at him, still feeling a bit dazed and hurt. But as I gazed into his eyes, I saw something there that gave me pause. It was a glimmer of genuine remorse, a sense of regret that I hadn't seen from him in a long time. I took a deep breath and tried to process my emotions. I was hurt, angry, and confused. But as I looked at Bakugo, I knew that I couldn't stay mad at him. Not yet, at least. "It's okay, Bakugo," I said, my voice weak but sincere. "Just give me a minute, okay?" As I straightened up, Kaminari still holding my arm, I could feel my body beginning to heal. The pain was already starting to subside, and I knew that within a couple of minutes, I'd be back to normal. But for now, I just wanted to stand there, surrounded by my friends, and try to make sense of what had just happened.
