A Leap of Faith

Part 23

The interview seemed to fly by in a blur, with Ashley answering questions and sharing her experiences with ease. As she spoke, she felt her confidence growing, and her doubts began to fade away. Ms. Thompson listened attentively, her expression friendly and encouraging. As the interview drew to a close, Ms. Thompson smiled and leaned forward. "Ashley, thank you so much for coming in today. We'll be in touch soon to let you know our decision." Ashley nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "Thank you, Ms. Thompson. I appreciate the opportunity." Ms. Thompson stood up, extending her hand. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Ashley. I wish you all the best." Ashley shook her hand, then turned and walked out of the office building. The bright sunlight was a welcome change from the sterile atmosphere of the office, and she felt a sense of hope rising up inside her. As she walked back to the community centre, Ashley couldn't help but feel a sense of optimism. Maybe, just maybe, she had nailed the interview. Maybe this was the start of something new and wonderful. Just as she was turning onto the main street, Ashley heard her name being called. "Ashley! Ashley, wait!" She turned to see Karen hurrying towards her, a big smile on her face. "Hey, how did it go?" Karen asked, falling into step beside Ashley. Ashley shrugged, trying to play it cool. "It went well, I think. They said they'd be in touch soon." Karen nodded, her eyes shining with excitement. "That's great! I'm so proud of you, Ashley. You're really taking control of your life." Ashley smiled, feeling a surge of gratitude towards her friend. "Thanks, Karen. I don't know what I'd do without you." The two women walked in comfortable silence for a moment, enjoying the warm sunshine and the sense of possibility that filled the air. Ashley felt a sense of peace settle over her, and she knew that no matter what happened next, she was exactly where she was meant to be.
