Clearing the Air

Part 2

Blitz quickly got up from his seat and followed Vassago out of the apartment, determined to clear up the misunderstanding. He caught up to Vassago on the sidewalk, who was walking briskly away from the building. "Vass, wait!" Blitz called out, jogging to catch up to him. Vassago stopped and turned around, his expression still stern. "What's going on, Blitz?" Vassago asked, his arms crossed over his chest. Blitz held up his hands in a calming gesture. "I think there's been a misunderstanding. I wasn't cheating on you, I swear." Vassago raised an eyebrow. "Then who is Lilah?" Blitz sighed. "Lilah is a colleague from work. We're working on a project together, and I was just responding to some messages from her." Vassago's expression didn't change, so Blitz pulled out his phone and showed him the texts. "See, it's all work-related. We're trying to meet a deadline, and Lilah is one of the leads on the project." Vassago scanned the messages, his eyes narrowing as he read. Then, to Blitz's relief, his expression softened. "I'm sorry," Vassago said, looking up at Blitz. "I was being paranoid." Blitz smiled and pulled Vassago into a hug. "You have every right to be a little protective," he said. "But I would never cheat on you, Vass. You're my boyfriend, and I love you." Vassago hugged him back, feeling a wave of relief wash over him. "I love you too, Blitz. And I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions." Blitz pulled back and smiled. "No need to apologize. I know how it is. But let's go back inside and finish breakfast, okay?" Vassago nodded, and the two of them walked back to the apartment, arm in arm. As they walked, Blitz couldn't help but think that he was lucky to have Vassago in his life. He was a little possessive, but it was only because he cared so much. As they re-entered the apartment, Vassago's stomach growled. "I'm starving," he said, heading back to the kitchen. Blitz followed him, smiling. "Let's finish breakfast, then. And then we can talk about your day. What's on the agenda?" Vassago grinned. "I was thinking of doing some grocery shopping and maybe starting on that new recipe I've been wanting to try." Blitz nodded. "Sounds like a plan. I'll help you with the grocery shopping, and then we can work on the recipe together." The two of them spent the rest of the morning cooking and chatting, the earlier misunderstanding forgotten. As they sat down to eat their finished breakfast, Blitz reached out and took Vassago's hand. "I'm glad we cleared that up," he said, smiling at Vassago. Vassago smiled back. "Me too, babe."
