Echoes of Forever

Part 7

Echoes of forever seemed to whisper through the empty rooms of Lex's apartment, a haunting reminder of the moments they had shared, and the moments yet to come. The silence was oppressive, punctuated only by the soft hum of the refrigerator in the kitchen. Jacob stood in the doorway, his eyes scanning the familiar space, searching for something – anything – that would anchor him to this moment. Lex emerged from the bathroom, a towel wrapped around her hair, a soft smile playing on her lips. She looked radiant, her skin still flushed from their earlier encounter. Jacob's heart skipped a beat as he took in the sight of her, his mind reeling with the memories of their passion. As she approached him, Lex's eyes locked onto his, and Jacob felt a jolt of electricity run through his veins. She reached out, her hand brushing against his, and he felt a surge of comfort at her touch. "I missed you," Lex said, her voice barely above a whisper, her words tumbling out like a confession. Jacob's heart swelled, and he pulled her into his arms, holding her close. "I missed you too," he whispered, his lips brushing against her ear. As they stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, the world seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them, suspended in this moment. The words they had left unspoken earlier still lingered in the air, but for now, they didn't need to say anything more. Lex pulled back, her eyes sparkling with mischief, and Jacob knew that she was about to say something that would change everything. "I have a surprise for you," she said, her voice barely containing her excitement. Jacob raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What is it?" he asked, his curiosity piqued. Lex just smiled, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Come and see," she said, taking his hand and leading him deeper into the apartment. As they walked, Jacob's heart pounded with anticipation, his mind racing with possibilities. What could Lex have planned? And how would it change their relationship? He didn't have to wait long to find out. With a flourish, Lex pushed open the door to her living room, and Jacob's eyes widened in surprise. The room was filled with candles, their soft light casting a warm glow over the space. In the center of the room, a small table was set with a single plate, and a note that read: "I love you."
