Distracted by Love

Part 36

Eric sat in class, staring blankly at the test in front of him as he tried to focus on the questions being asked. However, his attention kept drifting to the desk across from him, where Maya was sitting with a stack of papers in front of her, grading them with a look of intense concentration. As he watched her, Eric couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for her dedication to her work. She was so focused on what she was doing, oblivious to the fact that she was making him feel completely distracted. He had always been a good student, but now his mind kept wandering back to her, wondering what she was thinking about, what she was grading, and whether she was doing okay. As he scribbled down a few random answers, Eric realized that he had no idea what he was writing. He glanced down at his paper and saw that he had written "I love you" in the margin, completely unaware of what question he was answering. He quickly crossed it out, feeling a flush rise to his cheeks. Maya, still focused on her grading, didn't seem to notice Eric's struggles. She was completely absorbed in her work, her brow furrowed in concentration. Eric, on the other hand, was getting more and more frustrated. He couldn't focus on the test, and he knew he was going to do poorly if he didn't get his act together. As the professor walked by his desk, Eric tried to look like he was paying attention, but he could feel his eyes drawn back to Maya. He wondered if she knew how much she was distracting him, and whether she would even care. Just then, Maya looked up and caught Eric staring at her. She raised an eyebrow and smiled slightly, and Eric felt his heart skip a beat. He quickly looked away, trying to compose himself, but he knew he was in trouble. He was going to have to find a way to focus on the test if he wanted to pass. As the test went on, Eric found himself glancing over at Maya more and more, feeling like he was under a spell. He knew it was ridiculous, but he couldn't help himself. He was drawn to her in a way that he had never experienced before, and he wasn't sure how to deal with it. Finally, the test was over, and Eric breathed a sigh of relief. He knew he hadn't done well, but he was just glad it was over. As he packed up his things and stood up, he caught Maya's eye and smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude that she was in his life. Maya smiled back and nodded, and Eric felt his heart flutter. He knew he had to get out of there before he did something crazy, like going over to her desk and kissing her in front of the whole class. He quickly made his way out of the room, feeling distracted and a little frazzled, but also grateful for the distraction that Maya had brought into his life.
