The Right Moment Ashley's eyes locked onto Erica's, her voice barely above a whisper. "What did you want to tell me?" she mumbled through her tears and pulled back from Erica, wiping her tears. Erica's heart skipped a beat as she realized that Ashley had almost caught her off guard. She had been so close to revealing her secret, and now she wasn't sure if she should continue to keep it hidden. "I...I don't know what you're talking about," Erica stammered, trying to play it cool. Ashley's eyes narrowed, her expression skeptical. "Don't lie to me, Erica," she said, her voice weak but determined. "I saw it in your eyes, something you wanted to tell me. What is it?" Erica took a deep breath, trying to think of a way to avoid the truth. But Ashley's eyes were boring into hers, and she knew she couldn't keep it inside for much longer. The nurse finished up Ashley's medication and feeding tube, and then excused herself, leaving Erica and Ashley alone once again. "Come on, Erica," Ashley pressed, her voice gentle but insistent. "You can tell me anything. I'm your friend, and I can handle it." Erica's eyes welled up with tears as she looked at Ashley. She knew that she had to tell her the truth, but she was scared of how Ashley would react. "Ash, I...I have something to tell you," Erica said, her voice trembling. Ashley's eyes lit up with excitement, and she reached out to grab Erica's hand. "What is it?" she asked, her voice full of anticipation. Erica took another deep breath, trying to gather her courage. She knew that this moment would change everything, and she wasn't sure if she was ready for what was to come.
