"Unraveling the Threads of Purpose"
Part 258
I took a deep breath and let my words spill out, trying to convey the complexity of my motivations. "I want to save as many people as I can, to protect them from harm and make the world a safer place," I said, my eyes locked on Shigaraki's. "But it's not just about stopping villains and saving the day. I want to understand them, to know why they become villains in the first place. What drives them to hurt others? What pain or trauma have they experienced that makes them feel like violence and destruction are their only options?" Shigaraki's eyes sparkled with interest, and he leaned forward, his elbows on his knees. "Go on," he said, his voice low and encouraging. I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to articulate my thoughts. But something about Shigaraki's expression made me feel like he genuinely wanted to hear my perspective. "I believe that everyone has a story, a reason for why they do what they do," I continued. "And if I can understand that story, if I can understand what makes them tick, then maybe I can find a way to stop them before they even become villains. Maybe I can help them find a different path, one that doesn't involve hurting others." Shigaraki nodded slowly, a look of thoughtful consideration on his face. "You want to fix the root causes of villainy, rather than just treating the symptoms," he said, his voice filled with a quiet admiration. "That's a noble goal, Vesper. But it's also a complex one. Are you prepared to get your hands dirty, to dig deep into the darkness and confront the things that lurk there?" I felt a shiver run down my spine as I met Shigaraki's gaze. There was something in his eyes, something that made me feel like he was challenging me to confront my own demons. "I'm willing to try," I said finally, my voice firm. Shigaraki smiled, a small, enigmatic smile. "I think you'll find that it's not just about trying, Vesper," he said. "It's about being willing to change, to grow, and to confront the things that you don't want to see. But I think you might be surprised at what you discover about yourself, and about the world around you." As he spoke, I felt a sense of trepidation growing inside me. What did Shigaraki mean by his words? And what did he plan to reveal to me about myself and the world? I knew that I had to be careful, that I had to be prepared for anything. But I also knew that I couldn't turn back now. I had to see this through, no matter where it led.
