Confronting the Past

Part 9

"There's more videos, isn't there?" Ashley asked through tears, her voice cracking with emotion. She looked at Rachel, her eyes searching for reassurance, but Rachel's expression only seemed to grow more somber. Ashley's gaze dropped, and she shook her head, her voice barely above a whisper. "Is it necessary that I watch them?" she asked, her words laced with desperation. She felt like she was drowning in the memories, and the thought of reliving them all over again was suffocating. Rachel's expression softened, and she reached out to gently brush a strand of hair behind Ashley's ear. "Ashley, I know this is hard, but we need to do this. We need to make sure that we have everything we need to take Alev down." Ashley sniffled, her eyes welling up with tears again. She took a deep breath and steeled herself, knowing that she had to face whatever lay ahead. "Okay," she whispered, her voice trembling. Rachel nodded and opened the laptop again, revealing another video. "This one is from a few months after the argument you saw earlier," she explained, her voice gentle. "It's a bit different, though." Ashley's heart sank as the video began to play. This one showed her and Alev in a more intimate setting, but the atmosphere was tense and foreboding. Ashley's eyes widened as she realized that this video was different, that it showed a darker side of Alev's personality. As the video played, Ashley felt like she was reliving the nightmare all over again. She was trapped, unable to move or escape, and Alev's words were like a knife to her heart. She felt Rachel's hand on her shoulder, offering comfort, but she couldn't tear her eyes away from the screen. The video ended, and Ashley collapsed back in her chair, her body shaking with sobs. Rachel wrapped her arms around her, holding her close as she cried. "I'm so sorry, Ashley," she whispered. "I know this is hard, but we're almost done." Ashley pulled back, her eyes red and puffy. "Almost done?" she repeated, her voice incredulous. "How many more videos are there?" Rachel hesitated, her expression uncertain. "A few more," she said finally. "But I promise, Ashley, we're getting close. We'll get through this, and then we'll take Alev down." Ashley took a deep breath, her eyes locked on Rachel's. She knew that she had to be strong, for herself and for Rachel. She nodded, and Rachel showed her another video, one that made Ashley's heart ache with sadness and regret. But with each passing minute, Ashley felt herself growing stronger, more determined to face Alev and bring him to justice.
