Chapter 2: Sparks on Set

Part 2

The rest of the day flew by in a blur for Nia as she worked tirelessly to ensure that every actor looked their best for the cameras. Jon Hamm, in particular, seemed to be a favorite among the crew, and she found herself stealing glances at him as he effortlessly charmed his co-stars and the crew. Despite her initial nervousness, she was starting to feel more at ease, and her focus was solely on delivering exceptional makeup looks. As the lunch break approached, Karen suggested that Nia take a walk outside to get some fresh air. The soundstage was hot and stuffy, and Nia welcomed the chance to clear her head. She grabbed a sandwich and headed out to the craft services tent, where she spotted Jon sitting alone, typing away on his phone. "Mind if I join you?" she asked, nodding towards the empty chair across from him. Jon looked up, a hint of surprise on his face, but then smiled. "Not at all. Please, have a seat." As they ate, they chatted about everything from their shared love of movies to their favorite books. Nia was struck by how easy it was to talk to Jon, how down-to-earth and genuine he seemed. She found herself laughing and joking with him, feeling more and more at ease with each passing minute. As they finished their lunch, Jon glanced at his watch. "I'm so sorry, but I have to run. I have a meeting with the director to discuss some last-minute changes to the script." Nia nodded, feeling a little disappointed that their time together was coming to an end. "No worries, I should get back to work too." As they stood up, Jon offered her his arm, and Nia took it, feeling a spark of electricity as their skin touched. They walked back to the soundstage together, the tension between them palpable. As they parted ways, Jon turned to her and said, "I'd love to catch up with you more later, Nia. Maybe we could grab coffee after the shoot?" Nia's heart skipped a beat as she smiled and nodded. "I'd like that." The rest of the day flew by in a whirlwind of activity, but Nia's mind kept wandering back to Jon and their easy, effortless conversation. She couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement at the prospect of getting to know him better. As the sun began to set, the crew started to pack up, and Nia began to clean her station. She was just finishing up when Karen approached her, a knowing glint in her eye. "So, I see you've caught the attention of our resident heartthrob," Karen said, winking. Nia blushed, feeling a little self-conscious. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said, trying to play it cool. Karen laughed. "Don't play dumb, Nia. I've seen the way he looks at you. And I have to say, I'm a little surprised. He's not usually one for young, talented makeup artists." Nia raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh? What do you mean?" Karen leaned in, a conspiratorial look on her face. "Let's just say that Jon has a reputation for being a bit of a ladies' man. But I think you might just be different, Nia. You seem to have a spark that I've never seen him show before." Nia's heart skipped a beat as she processed Karen's words. She wasn't sure what to make of Jon's interest in her, but she was excited to find out.
