A Chance Encounter

Part 52

Your eyes are immediately drawn to a figure standing off to the side, his gaze fixed intently on Endeavor's exchange with the young fan. It's Yoarashi Inasa, and you can't believe your luck. You feel an inexplicable urge to meet him, and before you know it, you're making your way through the crowd towards him. As you approach, Inasa's eyes flicker towards you, and for a moment, you lock gazes. You can sense a spark of curiosity in his expression, but it's quickly replaced by a hint of wariness. You crouch down to take the slate - it appears to be made of wood - from his hand, and hold it out towards him with a gentle smile. "Hello! My name is (S/N) (Y/N). It's very nice to meet you. Please take care of me!" Inasa's eyes narrow slightly as he regards you, but he doesn't pull away. Your parents watch from the sidelines, looking bewildered by your sudden interest in the boy. They probably think it's just a normal childhood interaction, but you know better. You're not like other kids, and you have a feeling that this chance encounter might be more significant than you can currently understand. As you glance back at Endeavor, you can't help but feel a twinge of disdain. "Don't worry about Endeavor," you say, shooting him a withering look. "He is- not very polite." Inasa's gaze follows yours, and his expression turns somber. "Yeah..." he mumbles, still looking shaken. That's his moment, you realize, where he realizes that not all heroes are how he envisions them, that the world is just a little less innocent than he thought.
