"Betrayal in the Shadows"

Part 95

As we walked, the footsteps grew louder, and I could see the outlines of figures emerging from the trees. The League of Villains was closing in, and we were running out of time. I glanced at my friends, and I knew that we would do whatever it took to protect each other. We were a team, and we would face whatever dangers lay ahead, together. Suddenly, a figure emerged from the darkness. It was Dabi, his eyes gleaming with a malevolent intensity in the flickering blue flame light. He was flanked by two other League members, their faces twisted into cruel grins. "Well, well, well," Dabi said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Look what we have here. The heroes, all together in one convenient little package." He paused, his eyes scanning our group. "We'll let you all go if you give us the explosion boy and a girl named Vesper." He looked at me, his gaze piercing and cold. I felt a chill run down my spine as our eyes met. I immediately froze in place, my heart racing with fear. How did they know about Vesper? And what did they want with Bakugo? The others turned to me, their faces filled with concern and confusion. Bakugo's eyes narrowed, his face set in a fierce expression. "What do you want with him?" he growled. Dabi's grin grew wider. "Oh, don't worry about that. You'll find out soon enough. And as for you," he said, his eyes flicking to me, "you're coming with us, one way or another." I felt a surge of fear and adrenaline as I realized that I was the target. I tried to take a step back, but my legs felt like lead and I couldn't move. The others seemed to sense my distress, and they closed in around me, forming a protective circle. "We're not going to let you take him," Deku said, his voice firm. "He's one of us, and we're not going to betray him." Dabi's laughter was cold and menacing. "How noble of you. But I think you'll find that we're not in the mood for negotiations. So, what's it going to be? Are you going to hand over the explosion boy and Vesper, or do we do this the hard way?" The others exchanged nervous glances, and I could see the fear in their eyes. But I also saw determination and loyalty. They would do whatever it took to protect me, and I was grateful for that. But I knew that we couldn't take on the League of Villains alone. We were outnumbered, and outmatched. As I stood there, frozen in fear, I knew that I had to think fast. I had to come up with a plan, and I had to come up with it now. But for now, I was trapped, unable to move or speak. All I could do was stare at Dabi, and wait for my friends to come up with a plan to save me.
