**The Whispers of Winter**
Part 2
The chilly winter air bit at Mia's cheeks as she and Sirius made their way to the Gryffindor common room for breakfast. The fire crackled, casting a warm glow over the room, and the smell of toast and bacon wafted through the air, making her stomach growl with hunger. As they took their seats at the table, Professor McGonagall, the Transfiguration professor and Head of Gryffindor House, stood up to address the students. "Welcome, Gryffindors, to another wonderful day at Hogwarts! I trust you're all settling in well. However, I must inform you that there are a few... unsavory letters that have arrived for some of you." She glanced at Mia and Sirius, a hint of a smile on her face. "It seems that being Gryffindors has not gone unnoticed by the Black family. Sirius and Mia Black, I'm afraid you have received a... special greeting from your family." Mia's heart sank as Professor McGonagall handed them each a bright red envelope with a black logo emblazoned on it. The Howler, which was known for its ear-piercing shriek, was a tool used by the wizarding community to deliver embarrassing or shameful messages. Mia had heard of Howlers before, but she never thought she'd receive one. Sirius ripped open the envelope, and a loud, screeching voice erupted from it. "You have brought shame to the Black family! You are a disappointment to our heritage! You will be dealt with accordingly!" The voice was like a knife to Mia's eardrums, and she winced in pain. Mia's face burned with embarrassment as she opened her own Howler. The voice inside was just as loud and venomous, but it also carried a hint of sadness. "You are not worthy of the Black name! You will never be accepted by our family!" Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as she read the message. The Gryffindor students stared at them, their faces a mix of curiosity and sympathy. James, Remus, and Peter quickly came over to offer their support, but Mia just shook her head, feeling a deep sense of shame and frustration. Why couldn't her family just accept her for who she was? As the breakfast came to a close, Professor McGonagall announced that Yule Break was approaching, and the students would be heading home for the holidays. Mia felt a pang of anxiety at the thought of returning to the Black estate, but Sirius put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We'll get through this together, sis," he said, his voice low and gentle. The days leading up to Yule Break flew by in a blur of classes, Quidditch practice, and studying. Mia found herself growing closer to James, Remus, and Peter, and she began to feel like she was finally part of a group that accepted her for who she was. As the students packed their bags and said their goodbyes, Mia couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation about the holidays. What would her family be like this year? Would they still reject her, or would there be a glimmer of hope for acceptance? The Hogwarts Express was waiting to take the students back to Platform 9 3/4, and Mia boarded it with a mix of emotions. As the train chugged out of the station, she gazed out the window, watching the castle disappear into the distance. She knew that she would have to face her family's expectations and traditions during the break, but for now, she was grateful to be surrounded by her new friends. As the train ride began, Mia settled into her seat, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She was not alone, and she had a feeling that this Yule Break would be different from the ones she had experienced before. The question was, how would it change her?
