Chapter 6: A Moment of Serenity
Part 6
A Moment of Serenity The warm sunlight on their skin was a welcome change from the fluorescent glow of the cafeteria. As they stepped out onto the patio, Kenzy felt a sense of calm wash over her. The sounds of the cafeteria faded into the background, replaced by the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze. Levi led her to a quiet spot near the edge of the lawn, where a few students were scattered, reading or chatting with friends. They found a comfortable spot under a tree, and Levi gestured for her to sit down. Kenzy settled onto the grass, feeling the soft blades tickle her skin. Levi sat down beside her, his legs stretched out in front of him. The atmosphere was peaceful, with only the occasional shout or laugh from a distance breaking the silence. Kenzy closed her eyes, letting the warmth of the sun soak into her skin. She felt Levi's gaze on her, and when she opened her eyes, he was smiling at her. "I'm glad we came out here," he said, his voice low and soothing. "It's nice to get away from the chaos of the cafeteria." Kenzy nodded, feeling a sense of relaxation wash over her. They sat there in comfortable silence, watching as students milled about on the patio. As they sat, Levi began to play with a blade of grass, twirling it around his fingers. Kenzy couldn't help but notice the way his eyes sparkled in the sunlight, or the way his hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck. She felt a sense of wonder at how natural it felt to be with him, like they had known each other for years. The world around them seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them, lost in their own little bubble. Levi caught her eye, his gaze piercing. "I'm glad we're doing this," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Just hanging out, you know?" Kenzy smiled, feeling a sense of connection with him. "Me too," she said, her voice barely audible. As they sat there, the sun began to set, casting a warm orange glow over the lawn. Kenzy felt a sense of contentment wash over her, like she was exactly where she was meant to be. Levi leaned back on his elbows, his eyes never leaving hers. "I'm really glad I ran into you today," he said, his voice sincere. Kenzy's heart skipped a beat as she met his gaze. She felt like she was drowning in the depths of his eyes, like she was the only person in the world. And in that moment, she knew that she was falling for him, hard. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and Kenzy felt like she was floating on air. She didn't know what the future held, but she was excited to find out.
