Chapter 4: A New Horizon
Part 4
The days that followed were a whirlwind of excitement and preparation as Hange and I adjusted to the news of our impending arrival. We spent our days researching and learning about dragon parenting, from nesting and incubation to hatching and raising our little ones. I was amazed at how quickly Hange took to the role of expectant father, his enthusiasm and dedication inspiring me to be just as excited. As our dragon eggs grew, so did my belly. I had to admit, it was a strange sensation, feeling multiple tiny dragons kicking and squirming inside me. But Hange was overjoyed, often spending hours with his snout pressed against my stomach, listening to the movements of our babies. One afternoon, as we were taking a leisurely stroll along the beach, Hange suddenly stopped and looked at me with a concerned expression. "Ethan, I think it's time we started preparing the nest," he said, his voice filled with a sense of urgency. I was taken aback, realizing that we hadn't thought about the practicalities of having multiple dragon eggs. "You're right," I said, feeling a surge of excitement. "But where will we build the nest?" Hange nodded, as if he had already thought of a solution. "I know just the place," he said, taking my hand and leading me to a secluded cove on the other side of the island. The cove was hidden behind a thick veil of foliage, and the only way to access it was by a narrow path that wound its way down to the beach. Hange led me to a large cave behind the beach, the entrance guarded by two massive boulders. "This is perfect," I said, my eyes widening in amazement. "It's safe, secluded, and protected from the elements." Hange nodded, a proud smile spreading across his face. "I knew you'd like it," he said, his eyes shining with happiness. Together, we set to work preparing the nest, gathering soft materials like leaves, feathers, and moss to line the cave. It was a labor of love, and I could feel the excitement building inside me as we worked. As the sun began to set, we stepped back to admire our handiwork. The nest was a beautiful, cozy space, perfect for our little family to grow and thrive. Hange wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close as we gazed into the nest. "We're really doing this, aren't we?" I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Hange nodded, his eyes shining with excitement. "We sure are, Ethan," he said. "And I couldn't be more grateful to be doing it with you." As the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, we settled down beside the nest, our hands entwined as we gazed into the future, ready to welcome our little dragon family into the world.
