Chapter 162: Unwanted Attention
Part 162
Unwanted Attention "Mina, my name is Vesper, stop calling me Deku," I said, trying to change the subject and hide my embarrassment. I had already told her my name, and I didn't understand why she kept using that other name. Mina's grin faltered for a moment, and she looked at me with a hint of surprise. "Oh, sorry Vesper," she said, her voice apologetic. "I guess I just got used to calling you that." I raised an eyebrow, still feeling a bit annoyed. "Just try to remember, okay?" I asked, trying to keep my tone light. Mina nodded, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I'll try, I promise," she said, her voice teasing. "But it's not every day I get to tease someone about their crushes." I blushed again, feeling my face grow hot with embarrassment. "Mina, seriously, let's just drop it," I said, trying to change the subject. Mina chuckled, her eyes shining with mischief. "Okay, okay, I'll drop it for now," she said, her voice playful. "But just for the record, I'm still going to find out which one of them you're interested in." I rolled my eyes, feeling a bit exasperated. "You're not going to give up, are you?" I asked, already knowing the answer. Mina grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "No way, Vesper," she said, her voice determined. "I'm going to get to the bottom of this, even if it kills me." I sighed, feeling a bit resigned. I knew that Mina was not going to give up easily, and I was going to have to find a way to deal with her persistence. I decided to change the subject, hoping to steer the conversation away from my personal life. "Hey, Mina, have you heard about the upcoming mission?" I asked, trying to sound interested. Mina's expression changed, and she looked at me with a serious gaze. "Actually, I have," she said, her voice professional. "It's going to be a tough one, but I think we're all ready for it." I nodded, feeling a bit relieved that the conversation had shifted away from my personal life. I was grateful for the change in subject, and I was eager to focus on the mission ahead.
