A New Morning Dawns
Part 24
Rin moved quietly into the room, a tray balanced in her hands as she made her way to the bedside table. She had made pancakes, scrambled eggs, and crispy bacon, the delicious smells wafting up to greet her as she set the tray down. She gazed over at the two women, a smile spreading across her face as she took in the sight of them. Nozomi was still fast asleep, her head resting against Saki's shoulder, her body curled up tightly against Saki's side. Saki's eyes were closed, her chest rising and falling with a slow, gentle breath. Rin's eyes lingered on them for a moment, a sense of satisfaction washing over her. She had never felt this way about anyone before, not even her closest friends. But there was something about the two of them, something that drew her in and made her feel like she was exactly where she was meant to be. She reached out a hand, gently stroking Nozomi's hair as she slept, her touch soft and gentle. Nozomi stirred, her eyes fluttering open as she felt Rin's touch. She looked up, her gaze meeting Rin's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Rin's smile grew wider as Nozomi's eyes drooped, her gaze drifting over to Saki. "Good morning," Rin said, her voice soft and gentle. "I made breakfast. I thought you two might be hungry." Nozomi's gaze lingered on Saki for a moment, and then she looked back at Rin, her eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and gratitude. "Thank you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Rin nodded, her smile still plastered on her face. "You're welcome," she said. "But I'm afraid I'm going to have to bring it to you. Saki, can you even sit up?" Saki's eyes flickered open, her gaze drifting up to Rin's face. She shook her head, a small movement that was almost imperceptible. Rin nodded, her expression sympathetic. "Don't worry, I've got everything right here. You just stay where you are." Nozomi looked up at Rin, her eyes filled with a mixture of concern and gratitude. "But I don't want to leave her," she said, her voice firm. Rin's smile grew even wider. "You don't have to," she said. "I'll bring everything to you. You can eat in bed, and take care of Saki at the same time." Nozomi's gaze lingered on Rin's face for a moment, and then she nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. Rin smiled back, feeling a sense of happiness wash over her. She had never felt this way about anyone before, and it was exhilarating. She picked up the tray, and began to spoon food onto a plate, her eyes never leaving the two women as she worked.
