The Call from Katie

Part 3

As I sat at the kitchen table in the Lookout, sipping my coffee and going over some notes, my phone rang. I glanced at the screen and saw that it was Katie, the vet from Adventure Bay. I answered, wondering what she wanted to talk to me about. "Hey, Ryder! I just finished examining Marshall and I wanted to give you an update," Katie said, her voice professional but friendly. I set my coffee down, my mind immediately going to Marshall. "What's going on? Is he okay?" "Well, it looks like Marshall has a small inguinal hernia," Katie explained. "I've run some tests to confirm the diagnosis, and it's not too serious. We can fix it with a simple surgery." I felt a pang of concern. A hernia? That didn't sound like something that could be easily fixed. "Is he going to be okay? Will he be able to go back to being a PAW Patrol pup?" "Yes, I'm confident that he'll make a full recovery," Katie reassured me. "But he will need to take it easy for a little while after the surgery. I'll need to schedule the operation and make sure he's comfortable during his recovery." I nodded, even though Katie couldn't see me. "Okay, that sounds good. What's the plan for now?" "I'm going to get Marshall set up for the surgery and make sure he's comfortable. I'll keep you updated on the progress," Katie said. "In the meantime, can you keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't overexert himself?" I agreed, feeling a sense of responsibility as Marshall's leader. "Absolutely, I'll take care of him. Thanks for letting me know, Katie. I appreciate it." As I hung up the phone, I couldn't help but think about how this would affect our team. Marshall was a vital part of the PAW Patrol, and I knew that his absence would be felt. But I also knew that we had to take care of him and make sure he was healthy. I got up and walked over to the window, looking out at the bay. Marshall was out there somewhere, probably waiting for me to pick him up from Katie's office. I made a mental note to go get him and bring him back to the Lookout. We would have to figure out a plan for his recovery, but for now, I just wanted to make sure he was okay. I grabbed my keys and headed out to go pick up Marshall, wondering what the next few days would bring for our team.
