"Caught in the Act"
Part 43
A few days had passed since they finished painting the nursery, and Ashley was determined to get everything just right before the baby arrived. She was hanging up the mobile that Alev had picked out, a beautiful display of clouds and stars that would play soothing music to help the baby sleep. As she climbed up onto the stool to reach the top shelf, she felt a gentle hand wrap around her waist. "Whoa, what are you doing?" Alev asked, his voice laced with concern. Ashley turned to see him standing behind her, his eyes scanning her from head to toe as if searching for any signs of distress. "Just hanging up the mobile," she said, trying to play it cool. But Alev wasn't having it. He carefully lifted her down from the stool, his hands cradling her as if she were fragile. "You shouldn't be climbing up there, Ash," he said, his voice gentle but firm. "You're pregnant, not invincible." Ashley rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "I'm fine, Alev. I just need to get a few things done up here." But Alev was insistent. He scooped her up in his arms and carried her down from the ladder, setting her gently on the floor. "Let me take care of it," he said, his eyes sparkling with determination. Ashley sighed, feeling a little frustrated but also a little relieved. She knew Alev was just trying to protect her, but it was getting to the point where she felt like she was losing her independence. "I can take care of myself, Alev," she said, trying to sound firm. But Alev just smiled and handed her a dustpan. "Why don't you take care of dusting the furniture instead?" he suggested. "I'll handle the heavy lifting." Ashley couldn't help but laugh. She knew she was in good hands with Alev, even if it did mean she had to sacrifice a little bit of her autonomy. As they worked together to finish the nursery, Ashley couldn't help but feel grateful for Alev's love and care. He might be a little overprotective, but she knew it came from a good place. As they finished up and stepped back to admire their handiwork, Ashley felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. The nursery was perfect, and she knew their little boy was going to love it. She turned to Alev and smiled, feeling her heart swell with love for him. "Thanks for taking care of me," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Alev smiled back, his eyes shining with love. "Always," he said, pulling her into a gentle hug.
