Descent into Darkness
Part 6
Days turned into a blur as Zelda and Impa took turns caring for Link, but despite their best efforts, his condition continued to deteriorate. His pale skin had taken on a grayish hue, and his eyes sunken deep into their sockets. The scorching hot temperature that had plagued him from the start showed no signs of abating, and his body had begun to exhibit new and terrifying symptoms. Zelda's hands were shaking as she held a glass of water to Link's lips, trying to get him to drink. But he was too weak, and the liquid spilled down his chin, dripping onto the bed. Impa gently wiped him clean, her face etched with concern. As the night wore on, Link's struggles grew more pronounced. He began to cry out in pain, his body convulsing with violent seizures that left him gasping for air. The seizures were followed by bouts of constipation, which left Link writhing in agony. Zelda and Impa tried everything to help him, from herbal remedies to gentle massage, but nothing seemed to bring him relief. As the seizures intensified, Link's breathing grew shallower, his chest rising and falling with an alarming irregularity. Zelda's heart was racing with fear as she realized that he was on the verge of collapse. Impa's voice was calm and urgent as she called for the royal physician, but Zelda knew it was too late. Link's seizures had grown stronger, and he was now thrashing about on the bed, his body rigid with pain. The physician arrived, his face grave as he assessed Link's condition. "We need to act quickly," he said, his voice firm. "Link's body is shutting down. He needs ventilation, and we need to find a way to control these seizures." Zelda nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. She knew that Link was slipping away from her, and she was powerless to stop it. The physician and his team worked quickly, attaching Link to a ventilator and administering medication to calm his convulsions. As they worked, Zelda felt a sense of despair wash over her. She had never felt so helpless in her life. As the machine beeped and whirred, providing Link with the oxygen he could no longer draw on his own, Zelda's mind went numb. She sat beside him, holding his hand, and praying for a miracle. But deep down, she knew that Link's condition was dire, and that his chances of recovery were slim. The thought sent a cold dread creeping up her spine, and she could only sit there, frozen in fear, as the machines surrounding Link's bed continued to beep and whir, a grim reminder of his fragile state. In the silence, Zelda's anger and frustration boiled over, and she thought back to Ayumi and the movie that had brought Link to this state. She vowed to make Ayumi pay for what she had done, but for now, she pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the task at hand: saving Link's life.
