Chapter 11: The Proposal
Part 11
The sun peeked over the horizon, painting the sky in soft hues of pink and gold. Today was the day, the day Rei had envisioned for months, where every dream she had for her and Usagi's future would become reality. With a heart bursting with nervous excitement, she stood before her mirror, adjusting her outfit one last time. She wore a cozy, deep blue sweater that hugged her figure, paired with a flowing white skirt that twirled as she moved. The soft fabric gave her comfort while still feeling like a special occasion outfit. Rei took a deep breath, her reflection staring back at her with determination. "You’ve got this, Rei. Today’s the day you seal your love forever," she whispered before grabbing her coat and heading out the door. As she stepped outside, the world felt alive with possibility. A light snowfall blanketed the streets, glistening under the early light. With excitement bubbling inside her, Rei raced to Usagi’s apartment, her heart doing flips with every step. Rei knocked on Usagi's door, her heart pounding in anticipation. A moment later, the door flew open, and Usagi stood there, her bright smile banishing all the fears that had been flitting through Rei's mind. She wore a warm, fluffy pink coat that accentuated her playful spirit and made her look even more adorable. "Rei! You look amazing!" Usagi exclaimed, her voice brimming with joy. "Thanks! You too! Ready for our date?" Rei replied, trying to keep her voice steady, feeling the weight of the moment pushing against her. "Absolutely! I can't wait to see what you have planned!" Usagi beamed, slipping her arm through Rei's, and together they set off into the beautiful winter wonderland. After a short walk through the snow-dusted streets, Rei led Usagi to a serene park, blanketed in white and dotted with trees adorned in fairy lights, twinkling gracefully as if stars had fallen to Earth. The sight took Usagi’s breath away, and Rei couldn't help but smile at the wonder in her partner's eyes. "Rei, this is beautiful! Did you do all of this?" Usagi asked, her excitement contagious. Rei nodded, her confidence bolstered by Usagi's enthusiasm. "Minako and Ami helped me with some of the ideas. I wanted this night to be special for us—something we would remember forever." The stage was set. Blankets lay on the ground near a crackling fire pit, and steaming cups of hot cocoa awaited them. Usagi squealed in delight and rushed forward, her joyous spirit lighting up the chilly air. As they settled down, Rei poured the cocoa, laughter bubbling between them as they reminisced about memories and shared stories. Each sip felt warm and sweet, just like the love they shared. But as the sun began to set and the snow glimmered like thousands of diamonds scattered across the ground, Rei’s heart raced, an urgency building within her. Taking a deep breath, she realized the time had come. Each moment brought her closer to the next one—the one she had imagined all along. "Usagi," she began, her hand trembling slightly as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I have something I want to ask you." Usagi looked up, her blue eyes wide and sparkling, sensing the gravity in Rei’s tone. "What is it?" Rei retrieved the small velvet box from her pocket, her heart racing louder than ever. Kneeling in the soft snow, she held it out in front of her. "Usagi, you’ve filled my life with love and laughter, and I can’t imagine a future without you by my side. Will you marry me?" Tears of joy brimmed in Usagi's eyes, and for a moment, all time seemed to stand still. The world faded away as she looked at Rei, utterly captivated. "Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!" Usagi exclaimed, tears streaming down her cheeks. Rei’s heart soared, overwhelmed with happiness. As Usagi slipped the ring onto her finger, stars began to twinkle above them, mirroring the joy that enveloped their hearts. They embraced tightly, a perfect moment bonded by love, tears of happiness and whispered promises. In that magical snow-blanketed park, they sealed their love forever—two souls intertwined, ready to face everything the future held together.
