**Meeting the Family**

Part 12

As they emerged from the portal, Cody stumbled, his senses reeling from the sudden shift in surroundings. Maya caught him, her hand firm on his arm, and smiled reassuringly. "Easy, it's a bit disorienting at first," she said. Cody nodded, taking a deep breath as he looked around. They stood in a cozy, rustic-style house, surrounded by warm wooden beams and plush furnishings. The air was filled with the scent of baking, and Cody's stomach growled in response. Maya led him through the house, introducing him to various family members and friends as they went. They eventually arrived at a large, sunny kitchen, where a group of people were gathered around a table. Maya's eyes sparkled as she gestured to the group. "This is my family," she said. "Mom, Dad, Clary, come meet Cody." A woman with long, curly brown hair and piercing green eyes stood up from the table, a warm smile on her face. "Welcome, Cody," she said, extending a hand. "I'm Jocelyn, Maya's mom." Cody shook her hand, feeling a surge of energy as their palms touched. Jocelyn was a shadow hunter, he sensed, and a powerful one at that. Next to Jocelyn stood a tall, ruggedly handsome man with a strong jawline and piercing yellow eyes. "Luke, my dad," Maya said, as he stood up to greet Cody. Luke's handshake was firm, and Cody could sense the werewolf's strength and power beneath his calm exterior. Across from them, a young woman with long, platinum-blond hair and piercing blue eyes looked Cody up and down before smiling. "I'm Clary," she said, her voice husky. "Maya's sister." Cody sensed that Clary was a shadow hunter, just like their mother, and that she had pure angel blood running through her veins. As Cody shook hands with the family members, he couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed. There was so much power and magic in the room, and he was still getting used to his own abilities. Maya seemed to sense his unease, and she squeezed his hand reassuringly. As they sat down to eat, Cody learned more about Maya's family and their various supernatural abilities. Jocelyn and Luke were both skilled hunters, and Clary was a talented warrior in her own right. Maya, of course, was a complex mix of kryptonian, banshee, and shadow hunter, with a dash of chaos magic thrown in for good measure. As the meal drew to a close, Cody felt a sense of wonder and excitement. He had never imagined that he would be part of such a powerful, magical family, but he couldn't deny the connection he felt to them. Especially to Maya, who seemed to be the heart of the family. As they finished dessert, Jocelyn leaned forward, her eyes serious. "Maya has told us a lot about you, Cody," she said. "But we need to know more. What are your intentions towards our daughter?" Cody felt a surge of nervousness, but Maya squeezed his hand again, and he took a deep breath. "I love Maya," he said, looking into her eyes. "I want to be with her, to support her and help her with her powers. I promise to always be there for her, no matter what." Jocelyn's expression softened, and she smiled. "Welcome to the family, Cody," she said.
