"Reel In The Discomfort"

Part 6

The bright studio lights of Good Mythical Morning's headquarters gleamed down on Rhett and Link, who sat side by side on their signature couch, trying to muster up their usual energetic banter. However, today was different. Today, they were still getting used to their new conjoined configuration, and it showed. The awkward, fibrous tissue binding their right hands together, the bulbous mass connecting their left shoulders, and the thin membrane linking their stomachs all served as constant reminders of their predicament. As they began to film, Rhett tried his best to hide Link's squirming and discomfort from the camera, awkwardly shifting in his seat to adjust for Link's fidgeting. Link shot him pained glances, trying not to make eye contact with the lens. Rhett, ever the professional, forced a smile. "Welcome back to Good Mythical Morning, I'm Rhett, and... well, Link's here too." He tried to subtly nudge Link with his connected hand, attempting to calm him down. Link winced, his eyes darting towards the camera. "Yeah, and I'm... linked to Rhett today." He attempted a weak chuckle, but it came out strained. The two friends exchanged a quick glance, and Rhett dove into their planned segment, trying to steer the conversation towards more lighthearted topics. "So, we're talking about links today. You know, like, a link in a chain, or a hyperlink online." Link seized the opportunity, launching into a shaky monologue. "And did you know that a link can also be a person who helps you connect with others? Like, a link person? Get it? Link?" Rhett chuckled, carefully angling his body to shield Link's obvious discomfort. "That's a great link, Link. I think we're really forging a strong connection with our audience today." As they continued to riff on the topic of links, Link couldn't help but shoot Rhett pained glances, his eyes pleading for help. Rhett discreetly mouthed words of encouragement, trying not to draw attention to their conjoined state. At one point, Link's squirming became too much, and he awkwardly shifted in his seat, causing their connected hands to flail about. Rhett quickly swooped in, pretending to gesture wildly as he continued their banter. The tension was palpable, but they pushed through, determined to deliver their usual brand of humor and charm to their fans. As they wrapped up the segment, Rhett gave Link a reassuring pat on the back, trying not to jostle their awkwardly connected bodies. As the camera cut off, Link let out a relieved sigh, his face etched with exhaustion. "Thanks, man. I don't know how much more of that I could've taken." Rhett offered a sympathetic smile. "Hey, we did great. And hey, at least we're linked in more ways than one now." He tried to lighten the mood, but Link just rolled his eyes, wincing as their connected bodies shifted. The two friends sat in silence for a moment, the only sound the hum of the studio equipment. Finally, Rhett spoke up. "You know, we're going to get through this. We'll figure out a way to make this work." Link nodded, a small smile on his face. "Yeah, and who knows, maybe we'll even start a new trend. Conjoined comedy duos – we're the future." Rhett chuckled, and the two friends shared a moment of laughter, their conjoined bodies awkwardly swaying as they moved.
