"A New Order"

Part 10

The next morning, I decided that it was time to address the elephant in the room. I couldn't keep going on like this, sneaking around and trying to satisfy everyone's desires. It was unsustainable, and I could already feel the burnout setting in. I slowly got out of bed, wincing in pain as my body protested the sudden movement. Gardevoir, Lopunny, and Cinderace immediately sprang into action, rushing to my side to help me. "I'm fine," I reassured them, holding up a hand to ward off their concern. "I just need to talk to all of you." The six Pokémon gathered around me, their eyes fixed on me with a mix of curiosity and wariness. I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. "Listen, I know we all have... feelings for each other," I began, trying to tread carefully. "But this can't keep going on. It's not healthy, and it's not sustainable. We need to find a way to make this work, or else... or else I'm going to burn out, and I don't think any of us want that." Meowscarada raised an eyebrow, her sultry gaze lingering on me for a moment before she spoke up. "What did you have in mind, human?" I hesitated, unsure of how to proceed. But then I remembered the schedules and routines that I used to keep my life organized before I became... overwhelmed. "We need a schedule," I declared, trying to sound firm. "A rotation, or something. That way, everyone gets a chance to spend time with me, but I don't get overwhelmed." Lucario snorted. "You think a schedule is going to solve everything?" I shrugged. "It's a start. And it's better than what we have now. We can't keep sneaking around and hoping that no one gets hurt. That's not fair to any of us." The Pokémon looked at each other, seeming to confer silently. Finally, Gardevoir spoke up. "We'll do it," she said, her voice firm. "We'll follow a schedule, and we'll make sure that everyone gets a turn. But you have to promise us one thing, human." "What's that?" I asked warily. "You have to promise us that you'll take care of yourself," Gardevoir said, her eyes locked on mine. "We don't want you burning out on us. We're not just talking about physical exhaustion, either. We want you to be happy, and healthy, and... and fulfilled." I felt a pang of surprise at her words, but I nodded, trying to look confident. "I promise," I said, trying to mean it. "I'll take care of myself, and we'll make this work. Together." The Pokémon nodded, seeming to accept my promise. And as we stood there, surrounded by the quiet morning air, I couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, we could make this work after all.
