A Moment of Truth

The evening had finally arrived, and Emily was getting ready for her girls' night out with Rachel. She had spent the day working at the preschool and was looking forward to unwinding with her new friend. As she was curling her hair, her phone buzzed with an incoming text from Kyle. "Hey, can I talk to you for a minute?" Kyle's text read. Emily's heart skipped a beat as she quickly put down her curling iron and picked up her phone. She had been thinking about Kyle all day, wondering when he would make his move. She quickly typed out a response. "What's up? I'm getting ready for girls' night out with Rachel. Can it wait?" "No, it's kind of important," Kyle replied. "Can you meet me outside your apartment for a minute?" Emily's curiosity was piqued, and she felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. She quickly finished getting ready and headed outside to meet Kyle. As she stepped out of her apartment building, Emily saw Kyle waiting for her, looking handsome and endearing in the fading light of day. He took her hand and led her to a nearby bench, where they sat down together. "Emily, from the moment I met you, I knew that you were someone special," Kyle said, looking into her eyes. "I've been thinking about us a lot, and I realized that I don't want to just be your friend. I want to be more than that." Emily's heart was racing as she listened to Kyle's words. She had been hoping that he would feel the same way, and now she was faced with the possibility of taking their relationship to the next level. "I want to be with you, Emily," Kyle continued. "I want to be your boyfriend. Will you be my girlfriend?" Tears of joy welled up in Emily's eyes as she processed Kyle's question.
