"A Moment of Unexpected Relief"
Part 62
Mitsuba's eyes locked onto Kou's, his face pale as he whispered, "Kou... I love you." The words hung in the air, a declaration that had been building up inside him for what felt like an eternity. Kou's expression softened, his eyes filling with warmth as he smiled at Mitsuba. But before he could respond, the door burst open and Teru strode in, a look of mock disgust on his face. "If you're going to do that, do that in your room, you gay ahh," he yelled out, his voice echoing through the hallway. Mitsuba's face turned bright red as he shrank back into Kou's arms, mortified. But to their surprise, Teru didn't seem angry or upset. Instead, he looked... grossed out. "I still expect breakfast, so chop chop," he added, his tone completely nonchalant. Kou and Mitsuba exchanged a shocked glance, both of them relieved that Teru didn't seem to care about their confession. But at the same time, they were both aware that Teru's reaction was not exactly what they had expected. It was as if he was more uncomfortable with the idea of having to witness their intimate moment than with the fact that they were in a relationship. Teru plopped down on the couch, picking up the TV remote and flipping through channels. "Don't mind me, just pretend I'm not here," he said, his voice laced with sarcasm. Mitsuba's face was still flushed as he peeked out from behind Kou's shoulder. "T-Teru, don't you... care?" he stuttered. Teru shrugged, not even bothering to look up. "Not really. Just don't make me watch you two lovebirds make out or anything, okay? That's just... ugh." Kou chuckled, his arms still wrapped around Mitsuba. "Don't worry, we won't make you watch," he said, his voice dry. Mitsuba's face slowly returned to its normal color as he realized that Teru wasn't going to make a big deal out of their relationship. But at the same time, he couldn't help but feel a little... awkward. It was as if Teru's nonchalant reaction had somehow made their confession feel less significant. As they sat there in silence, Kou leaned in and whispered, "I love you too, Mitsuba." His voice was soft, but it sent shivers down Mitsuba's spine. Mitsuba's eyes sparkled as he smiled at Kou, feeling a sense of happiness wash over him. Maybe, just maybe, things were going to be okay after all.
