"A Moment of Distraction"
Part 32
The sun was high overhead, casting a warm glow over the cafeteria as the team gathered for lunch. Kenzy sat at a table with her friends, laughing and chatting as they ate their meals. Levi, on the other hand, was sitting with Hange, Erwin, and a few other higher-ups, trying to focus on the conversation about their upcoming mission. As he glanced around the cafeteria, his eyes landed on Kenzy, and for a moment, he felt a pang of longing. He wanted to be sitting with her, to be able to talk to her and share his thoughts and feelings. But he knew that wasn't possible, not with their commanding officer sitting just a few feet away. As he looked at Kenzy, Levi's gaze was drawn to the person sitting next to her - Jean. Levi's eyes narrowed slightly, a twinge of unease settling in his stomach. He didn't like the way Jean was smiling at Kenzy, didn't like the way he was leaning in close to her. Levi's instincts told him that Jean had feelings for Kenzy, and it made him feel possessive and territorial. Levi tried to shake off the feeling, telling himself he had no right to feel that way. Kenzy was free to talk to whoever she wanted, and Levi had no claim on her. But as he watched Jean put a hand on Kenzy's arm, Levi's unease grew. He felt a sudden urge to get up and walk over to their table, to put himself between Jean and Kenzy. Hange noticed Levi's distraction and raised an eyebrow. "Levi, are you paying attention?" he asked, his voice low and serious. Levi nodded, forcing himself to focus on the conversation. But his eyes kept drifting back to Kenzy, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of discomfort. He didn't like the way Jean was looking at her, didn't like the way he was touching her arm. As lunch drew to a close, Levi got up, his mind still preoccupied with Kenzy and Jean. He excused himself, citing a need to get some work done, and made his way back to his quarters. He couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled in his stomach, and he found himself wondering if he was just being paranoid. As he walked, Levi couldn't help but think about the way Kenzy had smiled at him in the shower, the way she had looked at him with such love and adoration. He felt a pang of longing, and he knew that he had to find a way to deal with his feelings. He couldn't let his emotions get the better of him, not when they had a mission to complete and a team to rely on. Levi took a deep breath, trying to clear his head. He knew that he had to trust Kenzy, to trust that she would make her own decisions and choose her own path. But as he walked, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was losing her, that Jean was somehow pulling her away from him.
