A New Beginning
Part 14
Ashley and Erica had just left the hospital, and Ashley was feeling a mix of emotions. The warm sun shone down on them, casting a gentle glow over the scene. As they walked to their car, Erica's phone suddenly rang, breaking the silence. She glanced at the screen and then looked at Ashley. "It's my principal," she said, her voice hesitant. Ashley felt a knot form in her stomach as Erica answered the phone. She could hear the principal's voice on the other end, and Erica's expression changed from calm to concerned. "Okay, I'll tell her," Erica said, before hanging up. Ashley felt a sense of trepidation. "What is it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Erica took a deep breath before speaking. "You'll have to repeat senior year in September," she said, her voice soft. Ashley felt a wave of disappointment wash over her. She had been looking forward to graduating and moving on to the next stage of her life. But as she looked at Erica, she saw the concern and support in her eyes. "I guess it's okay," Ashley said, trying to sound resigned. Erica put her arm around her. "It's not the end of the world, Ash. You'll get through this. We'll get through it together." As they continued to walk to the car, Erica handed Ashley a small bag. "I got you your meds," she said. Ashley took the bag and opened it, revealing a small container with her medication inside. She nodded, feeling a sense of determination. She was ready to face this new challenge head-on. With her medication in hand, Ashley felt a sense of hope. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but with Erica by her side, she was ready to take on whatever came next.
