Reminded of His Place
Part 66
The darkness seemed to coalesce around us, and before I knew it, we were standing in the heart of the League of Villains' base, the air thick with the scent of smoke and grease. Tomura's grin grew even wider as he gestured expansively, his eyes gleaming with triumph. "Welcome back, Dabi. Welcome back to the family." Dabi's gaze darted around, taking in the familiar sights and sounds of the League's base. I could see the memories flooding back, the sense of belonging and purpose that came with being a part of the League. His eyes lingered on the other villains, who were watching him with a mixture of curiosity and hostility. As he looked around, the League's members began to close in, their faces twisted into cruel smiles. Dabi's eyes flashed with a mix of emotions - anger, shame, and a deep-seated sense of belonging. Tomura chuckled, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "You see, Dabi, you're one of us. You're a part of the League of Villains, and you'll always be a part of us." The League's members began to murmur, their voices weaving together into a chant. "Dabi, Dabi, Dabi, he's one of us." The words seemed to wash over Dabi, and I could see the tension in his body begin to ease. His shoulders relaxed, and his eyes took on a faraway look, as if he was remembering something. Tomura stepped forward, his hand on Dabi's shoulder. "You're home, Dabi. You're exactly where you're meant to be." As he spoke, the League's members began to close in around Dabi, their faces twisted into cruel smiles. They reached out, touching his arms and shoulders, welcoming him back into the fold. Dabi's gaze met mine, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of uncertainty. But then, his expression hardened, and he turned away from me. "I'm home," he repeated, his voice flat and detached. The League's members cheered, their voices rising into a cacophony of sound. I felt a pang of despair, knowing that I had lost Dabi, at least for now. He was back with the League, and I had no idea how to get him back. As the cheers died down, Tomura turned to me, his eyes glinting with amusement. "And as for you," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "You're not welcome here. You're not part of the League." I knew that I had to get out of there, and fast. I turned to leave, but Dabi's voice stopped me. "Don't go," he said, his voice flat and detached. "You're not going anywhere." I turned back to see Dabi's eyes, cold and hard, staring back at me. I knew that I was in grave danger, and that I had to think fast if I wanted to get out of there alive.
