"A Wall of Stubbornness"
Part 20
As the evening drew in, Taehyun's frustration reached a boiling point. He was sitting on the couch, his eyes fixed on the TV as Beomgyu tried to make small talk with him. But Taehyun wasn't having it. He felt like Beomgyu was treating him like a child, constantly trying to pry into his emotions and get him to talk. "Can you just leave me alone?" Taehyun snapped, turning to face Beomgyu. His eyes flashed with annoyance, and his voice was laced with irritation. Beomgyu looked taken aback by Taehyun's outburst. "I just want to know what's wrong," he said, his voice calm and gentle. "You've been acting strange all day, and I want to help." Taehyun scoffed. "You think you can just fix everything with a few words?" he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "I'm not a kid, Beomgyu. I don't need you to coddle me or tell me everything will be okay." Beomgyu's expression softened, and he took a step closer to Taehyun. "I'm not trying to treat you like a kid," he said. "I just care about you, and I want to make sure you're okay." But Taehyun wasn't having it. He felt like Beomgyu was patronizing him, talking down to him like he was some kind of fragile child. He stood up, his eyes blazing with anger, and took a step closer to Beomgyu. "I don't need your help," he said, his voice low and menacing. "I can take care of myself." Beomgyu held up his hands, a calming gesture. "Okay, Taehyun, I understand," he said. "But can we at least talk about this? Maybe there's something bothering you that you want to get off your chest?" Taehyun snorted. "You really think I'm just going to spill my guts to you?" he said. "I'm not that easy to read, Beomgyu." Beomgyu sighed, looking frustrated. "Taehyun, I'm trying to help you," he said. "But you're not making it easy." Taehyun turned away, his eyes fixed on the TV as he tried to shut out Beomgyu's words. But he could feel Beomgyu's eyes on him, boring into his skin like a weight. The silence between them was oppressive, heavy with unspoken words and unresolved tension. Taehyun knew that he was being unreasonable, but he couldn't seem to help himself. He felt like he was backed into a corner, with no way out. As the minutes ticked by, the tension only grew. Taehyun could feel Beomgyu's patience wearing thin, his anger and frustration simmering just below the surface. Finally, Beomgyu spoke up. "Taehyun, I need some space," he said, his voice tight with emotion. "I need you to think about what's going on and why you're being so stubborn." Taehyun's head whipped around, his eyes flashing with anger. "Fine," he said, his voice cold. "Take all the space you need." Beomgyu nodded, his eyes never leaving Taehyun's face. "I'll go to my room," he said. "Maybe we can talk tomorrow when you're feeling calmer." Taehyun nodded, his eyes dropping to the floor as Beomgyu turned and walked away. The sound of the door closing behind him was like a weight crushing down on Taehyun's chest. He felt a pang of regret, but it was quickly swallowed up by his stubbornness. He wasn't going to apologize, not yet. Not when he still felt like Beomgyu was treating him like a child.
