"A Moment of Levity"

Part 210

As I stood there, still trying to process the weight of the conversation that had just transpired, I felt a sense of relief wash over me as I realized that I didn't have to have all the answers right now. Mina, sensing my tension, smiled softly and took a step back, her eyes sparkling with a mischievous glint. "Hey, Vesper, now that we've got that settled, can I ask you something?" she said, her voice tinged with a hint of excitement. I raised an eyebrow, curious about what she might ask. "What is it?" Mina's grin grew wider. "Can you sing for us, please?" I chuckled, feeling a sense of surprise at her request. "Sure, just give me a sec," I said, taking a deep breath as I tried to collect my thoughts. I glanced around at the assembled group, wondering if anyone would actually want to hear me sing. Deku and Bakugo exchanged a skeptical look, but Mina's enthusiasm was infectious, and soon, the others were nodding and smiling in agreement. I cleared my throat, feeling a bit self-conscious, but Mina's eager expression put me at ease. I took a deep breath, and began to sing. My voice, smooth and rich, filled the air, a gentle melody that seemed to match the rhythm of my heartbeat. I closed my eyes, letting the music wash over me, and felt my worries and doubts slowly begin to fade away. As I sang, I noticed the reactions of those around me. Deku's eyes lit up with delight, and even Bakugo's skeptical expression softened, a small smile playing on his lips. Todoroki's neutral expression gave way to a hint of a smile, and Shinso's eyes sparkled with curiosity. Hawks, however, looked away, his expression unreadable, but I could sense a hint of surprise behind his eyes. Aizawa Sensei's stern expression remained firmly in place, but I could detect a faint twitch at the corner of his mouth. Mina, however, was beaming with joy, her eyes shining with happiness as she listened to me sing. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and soon, the entire group was smiling and tapping their feet along with the music. As I reached the end of the song, I opened my eyes to find the group applauding, their faces filled with appreciation and admiration. I smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude and connection to those around me. For a moment, at least, I could forget about the pressures and expectations that weighed on me, and simply enjoy the beauty of music, and the company of those I cared about.
