Electric Storm
Part 6
The air was still charged with tension as Johnny and I continued to lock eyes, the game of cat and mouse between us intensifying. I could see the faintest glimmer of uncertainty in his gaze, and I knew I had him right where I wanted him. With a sly smile, I took a step closer, my voice dropping to a whisper. "I think you're the one who's trouble, Johnny," I said, my voice husky and confident. "Trouble with a capital T. The kind that can get a person burned, and not just from the outside in." Johnny's eyes narrowed, his face growing flushed as he tried to maintain his composure. But I could see the cracks beginning to form, the faintest hint of fluster in his gaze. He took a deep breath, his voice growing slightly rougher as he tried to respond. "What's that supposed to mean?" he asked, his eyes flashing with a mix of annoyance and curiosity. I laughed, a low, throaty sound, and took another step closer, my heart racing with excitement. "You know exactly what it means, Johnny," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "And stop calling me a kid, I'm not a kid." Johnny's face grew redder, his eyes flashing with a mix of frustration and embarrassment. For a moment, he seemed taken aback, unsure of how to respond. Then, his gaze locked onto mine, and I could see the spark of attraction igniting once more. "Fine," he said, his voice rough and husky. "I won't call you a kid. But that doesn't change the fact that you're playing with fire, and you're going to get burned." I smiled, a mischievous glint in my eye. "I'm willing to take that risk," I said, my voice confident and bold. The tension between us was palpable, and I could feel Darry's and Ponyboy's eyes on us, sensing the shift in dynamics. Two-Bit whistled softly, and I knew we had an audience. But I didn't care. I was too busy watching Johnny's face, seeing the cracks in his composure, and knowing that I had him right where I wanted him. As we stood there, frozen in a moment of pure tension, I knew that I had pushed him to the edge. The question was, would he jump, or would he pull back? Only time would tell.
