A Desperate Plan
Part 17
The team's plan was to stage an intervention, to gather all of Kageyama's closest friends and have a heart-to-heart with him. They would try to get to the root of his problems, to find out what was causing him such pain and distress. Oikawa was determined to be a part of it, to help his friend in any way he could. As they made their way to Kageyama's house, the atmosphere was tense. They all knew that this was a long shot, that Kageyama might not respond well to their efforts. But they had to try. When they arrived at the house, Kageyama's mother answered the door, her expression worried. "Ah, Oikawa-kun, Hinata-kun, Daichi-kun...what brings you all here?" she asked, her eyes scanning the group. Oikawa took a deep breath, trying to explain. "We came to talk to Kageyama, to see if we can help him with...with whatever's going on." Kageyama's mother nodded, her expression softening. "I see. Well, he's been...different lately. Distant. I've tried to talk to him, but he just brushes me off." The team exchanged worried glances. This wasn't good. If Kageyama was pushing away his own mother, they knew they had to act fast. "May we talk to him?" Daichi asked, his voice firm but respectful. Kageyama's mother hesitated, then nodded. "Okay...but be gentle with him, okay? He's not himself right now." The team nodded, their faces set with determination. They made their way to Kageyama's room, their hearts pounding in their chests. When they entered the room, Kageyama looked up from his bed, his eyes flashing with anger. "What do you want?" he spat, his voice cold. Oikawa felt a pang of sadness. This wasn't the Kageyama they knew, the Kageyama who was always so full of life and energy. "Kageyama, we're here to help you," Oikawa said, taking a step forward. "We care about you, and we want to know what's going on." Kageyama snorted, rolling onto his side. "You can't help me, Oikawa. No one can." The team exchanged worried glances. This was exactly what they had been afraid of - that Kageyama had given up, that he felt like he was beyond help. But Oikawa refused to give up. He took another step forward, his eyes locked on Kageyama's. "We're not going to give up on you, Kageyama," he said, his voice firm. "We're going to be here for you, no matter what." The room fell silent, the only sound the quiet breathing of the team. Kageyama's eyes flickered, and for a moment, Oikawa thought he saw a glimmer of hope. But then Kageyama's expression hardened, and he turned away. "I don't need your help," he muttered, his voice barely audible. The team looked at each other, unsure of what to do next. But Oikawa knew that they couldn't give up. They had to keep trying, no matter how hard it got. "We're not going anywhere, Kageyama," Oikawa said, his voice soft but firm. "We're going to be here, waiting for you, until you're ready to talk." As the team settled in, a silent vigil forming around Kageyama's bed, Oikawa couldn't help but wonder: would it be enough to save Kageyama from the darkness that seemed to be consuming him? Only time would tell.
