The days that followed Maya's confrontation with Nick and Sabrina were a blur of emotions, a rollercoaster ride that left her breathless and bewildered. She had expected anger, denial, and defensiveness from them, but what she got was a mix of guilt, shame, and regret. Nick had reached out to her, wanting to talk, to apologize, and to make amends. "Nick, I care about you, I really do," she said, "but I'm in a relationship with Bella now. I love her, Nick. I love her with all my heart." Nick's face fell, but to Maya's surprise, he nodded. "I expected as much," he said. "But I want you to know that I'm not giving up on you, Maya. I want to be with you, no matter what that means." Maya's eyes widened as he took a deep breath and continued. "I was thinking, maybe we could be together, all three of us. A polygamous relationship, Maya. I know it sounds crazy, but I think it could work. I love you, and I love Bella, in different ways, but equally. I want to be with both of you, to explore this thing together." Maya's mind reeled as she processed Nick's words. She looked at Bella, who was watching her with a curious expression. "What do you think?" Maya asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Bella shrugged. "I don't know, Maya. I need some time to think about it." Maya nodded, her heart racing with excitement and uncertainty. She knew that this was just the beginning of a new chapter in her life, one that would be filled with challenges, but also with possibilities.
