A Day of Sun and Water
Part 2
The sun was still shining brightly as Mr. and Mrs. Birch decided to take Nick and Andrew on a spontaneous trip to a nearby water hole. The boys were thrilled at the prospect of swimming in a new and exciting place. As they drove down a winding dirt road, the trees grew taller and the air grew thick with the scent of eucalyptus. After parking the car, the family made their way down to the water's edge. The water hole was a stunning sight, with crystal clear water surrounded by large rocks and towering trees. Nick and Andrew couldn't wait to dive in and start swimming. As they swam and played in the water, Andrew suddenly felt a shiver run down his spine. He looked around, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Nick was splashing him, and Mr. and Mrs. Birch were lounging on the rocks, soaking up the sun. But still, Andrew couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching them. He glanced around, scanning the trees and rocks, but saw no one. He turned back to Nick, who was grinning at him. "What's wrong?" Nick asked, noticing Andrew's concerned expression. Andrew hesitated, unsure of how to explain the feeling. "Nothing," he said finally. "I just thought I saw something." Nick laughed. "You're just being paranoid," he said, and the two boys continued to swim and play. But Andrew couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. He glanced around again, this time more carefully, and that's when he saw him - a figure standing in the trees, watching them. Andrew's heart skipped a beat as he tried to get a better look. The figure was tall and lean, with greenish-grey eyes that seemed to be fixed intently on him. Andrew felt a jolt of recognition, and suddenly he knew who it was - Judd, Nick's older brother. Judd was standing a distance away, trying to be stealthy, but Andrew had caught him. For a moment, the two locked eyes, and Andrew felt a flush rise to his cheeks. Then Judd turned and disappeared into the trees, leaving Andrew feeling both relieved and unsettled. As Andrew turned back to Nick, he couldn't help but wonder what Judd had been doing there, watching them. And he couldn't shake the feeling that Judd's interest in him was more than just casual curiosity.
