Countdown to Forever

Part 14

The wedding was just days away, and Pam couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness as she thought about the big day. She and John had finalized all of the preparations for their wedding at the same beautiful church where his parents had exchanged their vows many years ago. The ceremony would be a lovely blend of tradition and personal touches, and Pam had spent hours agonizing over every detail, from the flowers to the music. As she sat in her living room, going over the wedding plans one last time, Pam's mind wandered to the reception, which was being held at an exclusive venue in the city. She had been impressed by the photos and reviews she had seen, and she knew that their friends from work were all thrilled to be invited. Doug, in particular, had been looking forward to celebrating with them, and Pam was grateful to have him and the others by their side as they embarked on this new chapter in their lives. Just as Pam was starting to feel like everything was under control, her thoughts turned to the honeymoon that John had been keeping secret. She had tried to pry the information out of him on multiple occasions, but he had simply smiled and told her that she would have to wait and see. Pam's curiosity was killing her, and she found herself constantly trying to guess where they might be going. She thought back to all of the conversations they had had about travel, trying to remember if John had mentioned any places that he had always wanted to visit. She considered the possibility that they might be going to a beach destination, but then she thought about how much John loved history and culture, and she wondered if they might be heading to a city in Europe. As she pondered the possibilities, Pam's phone buzzed with a text from John. "Hey, beautiful," he wrote. "Just wanted to check in and see how you're doing. Can't wait to see you tonight." Pam smiled, feeling a flutter in her chest. She quickly typed out a response, asking him how his day was going and if he had any big plans for the evening. But as she hit send, she couldn't help but add one more question: "Any chance I can guess where we're going on our honeymoon?" John's response was immediate, but it was not what Pam had been hoping for. "You'll just have to wait and see," he wrote, with a string of laughing emojis. Pam rolled her eyes, laughing despite herself. She was going to have to be patient, it seemed. But as she settled in for the night, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for the adventures that lay ahead.
