"Descent into Darkness"
Part 3
The darkness of the dungeon cell seemed to suffocate Link as he lay awake, his mind racing with thoughts of the disease that had taken hold of him. The hours ticked by at a glacial pace, and despite the exhaustion that threatened to consume him, he found himself wide awake, his body on high alert. Zelda slept fitfully beside him, her gentle snores a soothing background hum that did little to calm his frazzled nerves. As the night wore on, a searing pain began to build in his right ear, like a tiny flame that refused to be extinguished. Link winced, trying to stifle the groan that threatened to escape his lips. The pain was intense, a sharp stabbing sensation that seemed to radiate from his ear to his very core. He gingerly reached up to massage his ear, wincing as his fingers made contact with the sensitive skin. Zelda stirred beside him, her eyes fluttering open. "Link, what's wrong?" she whispered, her voice groggy with sleep. Link hesitated, not wanting to alarm her. "I... I think it's just the disease," he replied, trying to downplay the severity of his symptoms. But as he spoke, he felt a wave of nausea wash over him, followed by a sudden urge to rush to the nearby bucket that served as a makeshift toilet. He leapt out of bed, his stomach churning with a slight diarrhea that left him feeling weak and vulnerable. Zelda quickly followed, her face etched with concern as she helped him to the bucket. "Link, we need to tell the healer," she said, her voice firm. "This is getting worse." Link nodded, feeling a sense of desperation creeping in. The Shadow Rot disease seemed to be progressing at an alarming rate, and he couldn't shake the feeling that time was running out. As he sat there, his body wracked with pain and discomfort, he couldn't help but wonder if he would ever recover from this affliction. The darkness of the cell seemed to close in around him, a suffocating shroud that threatened to consume him whole. Link felt like he was descending into a living nightmare, and he wasn't sure if he would ever find his way back to the light.
