The New Student
Part 2
As Mia entered her dorm, she was immediately struck by the warm and lively atmosphere. The boys were engaged in various activities, some playing cards, others reading books, and a few watching a movie. The room was filled with the sound of laughter and conversation, and Mia felt a sense of relief wash over her. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. Mr. Keating set down her suitcase and smiled at her. "Don't worry, Mia, you'll fit right in here. These boys will show you the ropes." He nodded at the group of students she had seen earlier. "Neil, Todd, Knox, Charlie, Steven, Gerard, and Richard, take care of our new student, okay?" The boys nodded, and Neil, the star actor, stood up to greet her. "Hey, I'm Neil Perry. Welcome to Welton." He smiled charmingly, and Mia felt a little more at ease. Todd, the shy poet, looked up from his book and smiled hesitantly. "Hi, I'm Todd Anderson. I'll show you to your room." As Todd led her to her room, Mia couldn't help but notice the curious glances from the other boys. She felt like a specimen under a microscope, and it made her a little self-conscious. When they reached her room, Todd introduced her to her roommate, a quiet and reserved boy named Brian. "This is Brian, he's a great guy," Todd said, before turning to leave. "I'll let you two get settled. If you need anything, just let me know." As the door closed, Brian looked up from his book and smiled. "Hey, I'm Brian. Welcome to our dorm." Mia smiled back, feeling a little more comfortable. "Thanks, Brian. I'm Mia." The two of them chatted for a bit, exchanging stories and getting to know each other. Mia was surprised to find that Brian was easy to talk to, and she felt a sense of relief that she had been worried about being roommates with a boy. Just as they were starting to relax, there was a knock at the door. It was Neil, with a tray of snacks and drinks. "Hey, guys, I brought some supplies to help you get settled. We have a tradition here at Welton, 'Carpe diem'. We seize the day, and make the most of every moment." Mia's eyes met Neil's, and she felt a spark of curiosity. What did this tradition entail? And what lay ahead for her at Welton Academy? As Neil handed her a sandwich and a drink, Mia took a bite, savoring the taste. She looked around the room, taking in the lively atmosphere, and felt a sense of excitement. She was ready to seize the day, and make the most of her time at Welton Academy.
