"Descent into Darkness"
Part 8
A few days had passed since Link's condition had taken a turn for the worse, and despite Elara's best efforts, he had continued to deteriorate. Zelda had barely left his side, nursing him through the night and day, her concern and worry etched on her face. But as the hours ticked by, Link's body began to show signs of further distress. At first, it was just a slight blurring of his vision. Objects seemed to swim before his eyes, and he had to strain to focus on Zelda's worried face. But as the minutes passed, the blurring grew worse, until he could barely make out the shapes and colors around him. He felt disoriented and lost, as if he was drifting through a dream. Elara noticed the change in Link's condition and quickly moved to his side. She examined his eyes, checking for signs of infection or disease, but there was nothing she could find. "Zelda, we need to get him to a stable surface," she said, her voice low and urgent. "I think he's experiencing some kind of seizure." Zelda quickly moved to help Elara, and together they carefully lifted Link onto a flat surface. But as they did, Link's body began to convulse. His muscles tensed and released, causing him to thrash about in a wild, uncontrollable manner. His eyes rolled back in his head, and his breathing became shallow and erratic. Zelda and Elara watched in horror as Link's condition worsened. His face turned blue, and his body went limp. "He's going into cardiac arrest," Elara shouted, grabbing a nearby mask and beginning to administer oxygen. The room erupted into chaos as Zelda and Elara worked to save Link's life. They shouted orders and directions, their voices urgent and desperate. But Link was beyond hearing them. He was lost in a world of darkness, his body shutting down around him. As the minutes ticked by, Link's heart continued to falter. His body was wracked with convulsions, and his vision was consumed by a swirling vortex of colors. He felt himself being pulled down, down into the depths of darkness, and he knew that he was fighting for his life. And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, everything went black. Link's body went still, his chest motionless. Zelda and Elara watched in despair, their eyes fixed on the young hero they had grown to love. Had they lost him? Only time would tell.
