"A Night of Deception"

Part 18

The car ride to the event was uneventful, with the soft hum of the engine and the occasional passing car being the only sounds that broke the silence. James couldn't help but steal glances at Victoria, but it wasn't her face or her sparkling eyes that caught his attention - it was the cut on her neck. It seemed to have gotten a bit larger and longer since he had first noticed it, and he couldn't help but wonder how she had gotten it. Victoria, on the other hand, seemed to think that James was admiring her cleavage. She caught him staring and smiled slyly, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Like what you see, my dear James?" she asked, her voice husky and playful. James felt a flush rise to his cheeks as he quickly looked away, trying to play it cool. He didn't want to ruin Victoria's big night by worrying her about a small cut on her neck. "Yeah, you look... stunning," he said, trying to sound sincere. Victoria laughed and leaned back in her seat, her eyes never leaving his face. "I'm glad you think so," she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction. "I've been feeling like a million bucks all day." James nodded, trying to keep his gaze from drifting back to her neck. He knew he had to be careful - he didn't want to make Victoria feel self-conscious or worried about the cut. But he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, that there was more to the story than Victoria was letting on. As they approached the event venue, James could feel the excitement building inside him. He had been looking forward to this night for weeks, and he was determined to make it special for Victoria. But as he glanced over at her, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The cut on her neck seemed to be growing larger, and he couldn't help but wonder what had caused it. The car pulled up to the curb, and James opened the door for Victoria. She smiled at him and took his hand, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Let's do this," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. James smiled back and led her out of the car, into the bright lights and bustling crowds of the event venue. But as they walked, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, that there was more to Victoria's night than met the eye.
