"Entrapped"
Part 3
A sense of unease settled over Mori as she stood in the lavish room, her eyes scanning the space for any sign of escape. The maids had left her alone, but she could sense that they were still close by, watching her every move. She approached the window, the moonlit garden below seeming to stretch on forever. The scent of blooming flowers filled the air, but it did little to calm her racing thoughts. As she stood there, lost in thought, Mori failed to notice the maid slipping up behind her. The woman's movements were silent, her footsteps quiet on the plush floor. Mori was so caught up in her own worries that she didn't even flinch as the maid's hand reached out and pressed a cloth over her face. The scent of chloroform wafted up, powerful and overwhelming. Mori's eyes widened as she tried to pull away, but it was too late. The chloroform took hold, and she felt her body begin to weaken. Her legs gave out, and she collapsed to the floor, the world around her fading to black. The maid caught Mori's body, holding her upright as she slowly slid to the floor. She lay there, limp and helpless, as the maid gently laid her down on the soft carpet. The maid's face was expressionless, her eyes empty as she gazed down at Mori's unconscious form. With a quiet efficiency, the maid rolled Mori onto her side and pulled the silken sheets from the bed over her. The maid tucked the sheets around Mori's body, making sure she was comfortable and secure. Then, with a final glance, the maid turned and slipped out of the room, leaving Mori to sleep. The room was quiet, the only sound the soft ticking of a clock on the mantle. Mori lay there, lost in a world of unconsciousness, unaware of the dangers that lurked around her. The moon continued to shine through the window, casting a silver glow over the room, but Mori was oblivious to its beauty. She was trapped, caught in a web of uncertainty, and she would have to wait until morning to discover her fate.
