A Web of Misunderstanding

Part 16

I took a deep breath, trying to process what was happening, but the hurt and anger still lingered. I looked at Levi, and for a moment, I saw the love and adoration we had shared over the past few months. But then, I saw Petra's face, and my anger resurfaced. "You're just going to sit there and let her sit on your lap?" I spat, my voice venomous. Levi took a step forward, his eyes pleading for understanding. "Kenzy, please listen—" But I wasn't having it. I pushed him, my palms flat against his chest. "No, I don't want to hear it," I said, my voice cracking. Levi stumbled backward, his eyes wide with shock, and I turned and ran out of the room, tears streaming down my face. I didn't know where I was going, I just knew I had to get away from him. I ran down the hallway, my feet pounding the floor, and my heart heavy with sorrow. I could feel Levi's eyes on me, but I didn't look back. I just kept running. As I turned a corner, I collided with someone. Apologetic, I looked up to see Erwin's concerned face. "Kenzy, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice soft with worry. I shook my head, unable to speak. Tears continued to flow down my face, and Erwin wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a warm hug. "Hey, it's okay," he said, his voice soothing. "You're safe now." As I cried, Erwin led me to a quiet spot, and we sat down on a bench. He stroked my hair, and I felt a sense of comfort wash over me. "Levi doesn't deserve you," Erwin said, his voice low and serious. "You're an amazing person, and you deserve someone who will love and respect you without condition." I sniffled, wiping my nose on my sleeve. Erwin was right. Levi had hurt me, and I wasn't sure if I could ever trust him again. "I'm so sorry, Kenzy," Erwin said, his eyes filled with empathy. "You deserve so much better than someone who would put you through this." I looked at Erwin, and for a moment, I felt a pang of gratitude toward him. He was being kind and understanding, something that Levi hadn't been able to provide in that moment. As I composed myself, Erwin handed me a handkerchief, and I blew my nose. I took a deep breath, trying to calm down, but my heart still ached with pain and betrayal. "Let's get you out of here," Erwin said, standing up and offering me his hand. "You don't have to face him right now." I nodded, taking his hand, and let him lead me away from the scene of my heartbreak. I didn't know what the future held, but for now, I just wanted to escape the pain and figure out what I wanted to do next.
