A Dream Within a Dream

Part 4

Nene woke up again, her heart racing as if she had been running a marathon. She rubbed her eyes, trying to shake off the feeling of disorientation. Had she really gone to the Yugi twins' house earlier, or was it just a part of the dream? She looked around her darkened room, trying to get her bearings. Everything seemed normal, but her mind was still reeling from the vivid images that lingered in her mind. She threw off the covers and got out of bed, her bare feet padding softly on the floor. She walked over to the window and pulled back the curtain, gazing out into the night. The moon was full, casting an eerie glow over the sleeping town. It was the middle of summer, and the air was thick with humidity, but she didn't feel hot or uncomfortable. As she stood there, a strange compulsion took hold of her. She felt an overwhelming urge to go to the Yugi twins' house, just like in her dream. She shook her head, trying to clear it. What was wrong with her? Why would she ever go to their house in the middle of the night? But her feet seemed to move of their own accord, carrying her out of her room and down the street. The houses were all dark and silent, except for the occasional barking of a dog or the distant hum of a car driving by. She walked quickly, her heart pounding in her chest. As she approached the Yugi twins' house, she could see that the TV was on, casting a warm glow over the living room window. Either Tsukasa or Amane, or both of them, were awake. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she approached the door. What was she doing here? She raised her hand and knocked, the sound echoing through the night air. Her heart skipped a beat as she waited, hearing shuffling behind the door. It sounded like Amane, getting out of bed and making his way to the door. The door creaked open, and Amane stood there, rubbing his eyes. "Nene, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice groggy with sleep. "It's really late." Nene hesitated, unsure of how to explain her sudden visit. She looked past Amane, into the living room, and saw that Tsukasa was sitting on the couch, his eyes fixed on her. There was a look of concern on his face, and Nene's heart skipped a beat. "Hey, Nene," Tsukasa said, getting up from the couch. "What's going on?" Nene took a deep breath, trying to explain. "I had a dream," she said. "A dream that I was here, and you were in danger, Amane. I don't know, I just had to come here." Amane's expression changed, and he stepped aside, letting her in. "Come in, Nene," he said. "We'll talk about it." As she entered the living room, Nene couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. There was a tension in the air, and she could sense that something was wrong. She sat down on the couch, between Tsukasa and Amane, and tried to read the atmosphere. "So, what happened in this dream?" Tsukasa asked, his eyes locked on hers. Nene took a deep breath, trying to recall every detail. "You were in danger, Amane," she said. "I was trying to reach you, but my legs felt heavy, as if rooted to the spot." Amane's eyes narrowed, and he exchanged a look with Tsukasa. "That's weird," Amane said. "I had a weird feeling earlier too." Tsukasa nodded. "We were just talking about something," he said. "Something that might be related to your dream." Nene's heart skipped a beat. "What is it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Tsukasa and Amane exchanged another look, and then Tsukasa spoke up. "We'll tell you," he said. "But you have to promise not to freak out." Nene nodded, her heart racing with anticipation. "I promise," she said. "Tell me what's going on."
