"A Glimmer of Hope"
Part 266
I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. I didn't have a fully formed plan, but I knew I had to try something. I looked at Shigaraki, trying to read his expression. He seemed intrigued, but I couldn't tell if it was genuine or just a ruse. "Okay, let's say we don't go the route of violence and destruction," I said, trying to sound confident. "We can try to get people on our side, to see things from our perspective. We can show them that we're not just villains, that we're people who have been hurt and marginalized." Shigaraki raised an eyebrow. "Go on," he said, his voice a little softer. "I think if we can get more and more people to understand what the villains have suffered through, we can start to change the narrative," I said, my words tumbling out in a rush. "We can show them that we're not just evil, that we're people who have been pushed to the edges of society. We can show them that we have hopes and dreams, just like everyone else." Shigaraki leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together. "And how do you plan to do that?" he asked, his voice skeptical. I hesitated, realizing that I didn't have a clear answer. But I didn't let that stop me. "We can start by telling our stories," I said, my voice growing more confident. "We can share our experiences, and show the world what we've been through. We can show them that we're not just villains, that we're people who have been hurt and marginalized." Shigaraki's expression didn't change, but I saw a flicker of interest in his eyes. He leaned forward, his elbows on his knees. "I'm listening," he said, his voice a little softer. "Tell me more about these stories. What do you think they can do?" I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. "I think they can show the world that we're not just one-dimensional villains," I said. "I think they can show them that we're complex, multifaceted people who have been driven to certain actions by our circumstances. I think they can show them that we're not just evil, that we're people who are capable of good and bad things, just like everyone else." Shigaraki nodded, his eyes never leaving mine. "I see what you're saying," he said, his voice thoughtful. "But it's not going to be easy. There are a lot of people who don't want to listen, who don't want to understand." I nodded, feeling a sense of determination. "I know it's not going to be easy," I said. "But I think it's worth it. I think it's worth trying to change the narrative, to show the world that we're not just villains. I think it's worth trying to find a way to live in harmony, to find a way to make the world a better place for everyone." Shigaraki's expression didn't change, but I saw a flicker of something in his eyes. It was a small movement, but it gave me hope. Maybe, just maybe, I was getting through to him.
