Chapter 108: The Unsettling Truth
Part 107
The Unsettling Truth I swallowed hard, my eyes locked on Tomura's gleaming excitement. "What do you mean the experiment worked?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. Tomura's grin widened, and he took a step closer to me. "Why, it means that you're... adapting," he said, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "Your body is capable of healing at an incredible rate. Faster than any Quirk I've ever seen." I felt a shiver run down my spine as I glanced at my arm, the skin smooth and unblemished. It was as if the injuries had never happened. "But how?" I pressed, trying to understand the implications. "What did you do to me?" Dabi's expression remained unreadable, but Himiko's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "We applied your injuries, one by one," she explained, her voice matter-of-fact. "And then... well, you saw what happened." I nodded, my mind racing. "You used your Quirks on me," I accused, my eyes darting between Tomura, Dabi, and Himiko. Tomura chuckled. "In a manner of speaking, yes. Dabi's Cremation applied the burn, and Toga's... enthusiasm provided the cut. And then... well, it seems that your body just... fixed itself." I felt a wave of unease wash over me. "What does this mean?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Tomura's grin grew wider. "It means that you have the potential to be... very powerful. Faster healing, increased resilience... the possibilities are endless." Bakugo's eyes locked onto mine, filled with worry. "Vesper, no," he whispered, struggling against his restraints. "You can't be serious about this. We have to get out of here." But I was frozen in place, my mind reeling with the implications. What did this mean for my future? And what did Tomura plan to do with me now that I had this... ability? Tomura's eyes gleamed with excitement. "Oh, we're just getting started," he said, his voice low and husky. "We're going to push your limits, see just how far you can go." And with that, I knew that my life was about to change in ways I couldn't even imagine.
