As they navigated the chaotic corridors, Toadbert led the way, pointing out areas where the Koopa Troopas were concentrated. Peach, Mario, and Luigi fought side by side, their movements a testament to their years of experience working together. Toad scurried about, providing updates on the situation and helping to direct the Toad guards. Their first priority was to secure the main hall, which had been overrun by a large group of Koopas. Mario and Luigi took point, using their jumping and hammering skills to clear a path. Peach followed close behind, using her parasol to deflect any stray shells or hammers that came their way. As they fought their way through the hall, they encountered increasingly fierce resistance. Koopas seemed to be pouring in from every direction, and it became clear that the breach was more extensive than they had initially thought. Just when it seemed like they were gaining the upper hand, a loud crash echoed through the hall, followed by the sound of cheering. Bowser's iconic roar boomed through the corridors, sending a chill down the spines of the defenders. "It's him," Luigi muttered, his face grim. "He's here." Peach steeled herself, her determination evident. "We can't let him take over our castle. Let's move." With renewed energy, the group pressed on, pushing through the Koopa hordes and making their way deeper into the castle. Toadbert stopped suddenly, his eyes fixed on a nearby door. "Wait," he said, his voice low. "I think I know where the traitor is." The group turned to face him, their eyes questioning. Toadbert took a deep breath before speaking. "It's... it's one of our own. Someone we've trusted for years." Mario's face darkened. "Who?" Toadbert hesitated before pointing to a nearby figure. The figure was standing off to the side, watching the battle with a mixture of fascination and satisfaction. The group turned to see who it was, and their eyes widened in shock. It was Toadsworth, one of Peach's most trusted advisors. Peach's face went pale. "Toadsworth? How could you?" Toadsworth sneered, his eyes glinting with malice. "I've been playing a long game, Your Highness. I've been secretly working with Bowser, feeding him information and helping him plan his attack." Luigi's face twisted in disgust. "You're a traitor." Toadsworth shrugged. "I'm just a pragmatist. I saw which way the wind was blowing, and I decided to get on board." Mario's face set in a determined scowl. "You're going to pay for your treachery." With a swift motion, Mario jumped forward, his hammer at the ready. Toadsworth let out a terrified squeak as Mario approached, but it was too late. The hammer came crashing down, and Toadsworth was defeated. The group stood panting, victorious but shaken. They knew that they still had a long way to go before they could secure the castle and defeat Bowser. But for now, they had taken a crucial step towards reclaiming their home. As they caught their breath, Peach turned to the group. "We need to seal the breach and prepare for a final showdown with Bowser. We can't let him win." The group nodded in agreement, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. Together, they set off to retake the castle and restore peace to the Mushroom Kingdom.
