**Chapter 52: Shadows in the Mind**

Part 52

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the dorm's walls, Kageyama's unease only intensified. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched, that unblinking eyes were trained on him from the darkness. He tried to focus on his homework, but his mind kept wandering back to the strange occurrences of the day. Every creak of the floorboards, every groan of the old building, made him jump. Hinata, noticing his friend's distraction, tried to reassure him. "Hey, Kageyama, you okay? You've been acting really weird all day," he said, concern etched on his face. Kageyama forced a smile, trying to brush off his friend's concerns. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bit...tired," he muttered, his eyes darting around the room. But Hinata wasn't convinced. He had seen Kageyama like this before, during their first year of high school, when the pressure of the volleyball team had taken a toll on his mental health. He knew the signs of anxiety, the way Kageyama's eyes would dart around, his smile faltering. As the night wore on, Kageyama's anxiety only grew. He began to feel like he was trapped in a never-ending nightmare, with no escape from the shadows that seemed to be closing in around him. He excused himself, telling Hinata he needed to get some fresh air. As he walked out of the dorm, the cool night air hit him like a slap in the face. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. But as he looked around, he could have sworn he saw a figure standing in the shadows, watching him. Kageyama spun around, but there was no one there. He let out a frustrated sigh, wondering if he was losing his mind. He began to walk back to the dorm, his heart pounding in his chest. Meanwhile, Oikawa was sitting in his room, studying for an upcoming exam. He had just finished reading a chapter in his textbook when he heard a knock on the door. It was Kageyama, looking like he had seen a ghost. "Kageyama, what's wrong?" Oikawa asked, concern etched on his face. Kageyama hesitated, unsure of how to explain the strange occurrences of the day. "I...I don't know," he muttered. "I just keep seeing things. Shadows, figures...I don't know if I'm going crazy or what." Oikawa's expression softened. He knew that Kageyama wasn't prone to exaggeration, and if he was saying he was seeing things, then there must be something to it. He motioned for Kageyama to sit down, and the two of them talked long into the night, trying to unravel the mystery of Kageyama's strange visions. As they talked, Oikawa couldn't help but think back to his own strange dream of the night before. He had dismissed it as a mere nightmare, but now he wasn't so sure. Was it possible that their minds were connected, that they were experiencing some kind of shared...whatever it was? The more Oikawa thought about it, the more he became convinced that something was going on. And he was determined to get to the bottom of it, no matter what it took. As the night wore on, Kageyama's anxiety began to subside, replaced by a sense of curiosity. What was happening to him? And what did it have to do with Oikawa? As they parted ways, Oikawa turned to Kageyama with a determined look in his eye. "We'll figure this out, Kageyama. Together." Kageyama nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards his friend. Maybe, just maybe, they would be able to uncover the truth behind his strange visions. And maybe, just maybe, they would discover that the shadows in their minds were more connected than they thought.
